Smoking??

smoking is a personal choice and there will always be people arguing for and against..

I do beliee anyone should be allowed to post on a thread and as there are so dofferent views its what makes it intresting - i stated that i was pregnant and smoked and fully expected to be torn aprt but that didnt or hasnt happened so far...

just because people smoke it doesnt make them a bad parent its just we are still human even though we are parents (or parents to be) the same as drinking we all know the risks but im sure everyone still has a drink its because we all need to let our hair down and enjoy it...

the same as smokers - we do enjoy it which is why it is soo hard to quit, we do know the risks but that doesnt stop us but then we arent neglecting and beating up our kids (two of the main things which make people in my eyes a bad parent) we all our humans first and parents second and part of human nature is to have strong views on something if it has affected us...

Zara I'm sorry but you're being so, SO pushy here.

This is a thread just like any other thread and whoever wants to post is allowed to. Its only a lecture when you don't like what's being said. Every single person on here is allowed to voice their opinion on whatever thread they want. If you have an issue then why are you still on here reading if it makes you feel guilty? NOBODY has come out and called ANYONE a bad mother for smoking. You're adults. If you want to smoke that is completely up to you. But god damn, to come out and say that "this was strictly for ex smokers NOT non-smokers"? Where do you get off saying that exactly? If you don't like someone's opinion then pay no mind to it.

ALSO, Ryder isn't even HOME right now and you're all practically attacking her. At least give the girl a chance to defend herself.

Sorry Ema that your thread turned out like this, it was purely innocent I'm sure.

Zara didnt come across as pushy at all?!!? This is the pushiest post of them all!
Your right anyone can write what they like on a a thread but when its not necessary this is when conflict happens and the innocent thread becomes a mass debate/arguement! If Ema had titled the thread... what do you think of me smoking?? then its understandable but like most have said.... this was not the intention!!
It doesnt make me feel guilty... I am doing nothing wrong to harm my baby, I KNOW the risks, I am not stupid! But annoys me when ppl feel the need to try and sway my decision to do so, or list what I am doing to my daughter by smoking.

AND... Ive replied to ryders thread... no one is "attacking" her and this is a forum, I dont check to see whether she is online or not before I post!!

Rae left... so there's not really much point in responding to her posts. I don't really think she was being rude at all. No more pushy than others have been.

I'm pregnant but quit smoking a week after I found out (had to wean myself)! One of my biggest fears is that I will start smoking again after I give birth. Like the other ladies have said, if you've gone this long without it, why start again? I keep telling myself the same thing, but I still don't know if I can. I HAD to quit smoking. I didn't do it for my health, or for me at all. I did it for my baby. I thought the cravings would go away, but I still get them. A lot. Especially when I'm tired.

I used to be a heavy smoker and was addicted big time.First time i found out i was pregnant quit just like that , and still dont smoke now. Once my children came into my life i wont touch the things, the smell , the damage they do yuk. Not worth it at all.

Smoke free for 4 years :smug: OH smokes though ( has cut down) but i wont allow it anywhere near the girls and he has to fully wash himself and shower and new clothes on. Im very tight on it being anywhere near the kids.

each to there own though!

I didnt know she had left but still I like to put my point across, so to me their is a point... and I felt like she was being rude, especially as she was directing her post to people including myself!

To be fair, if you mention "smoking" "Pregnancy" or "babies" in a forum, real life conversation or in anyway it is going to start up an arguement or debate of somekind

Everyone has different opinions on it, so we shouldn't we all just leave it here now?!

That's very true too. It's a sensitive topic... and if you're doing something that is undisputed as unhealthy then yeah, you're going to get an earful.

Lord knows I did! You know how I quit? My brother laid the BIGGEST guilt trip of my freaking LIFE at the breakfast table Christmas Morning, 2002. Oh. My. God. He laid into me about how I was tearing our family apart (I was the only one who smoked) and how selfish I was being. Maaaaan, he had me bawling at the end of the conversation.

It definitely makes people passionate. If someone choses to do it regardless of all the health warnings then people are going to question it... or hopefully try to persuade you to think otherwise. Again, I can't speak for other people mind you, but please know that if I'm saying anything against smoking, it's only in the intention of hoping you quit.

I'm not trying to judge, be morally superior or make anyone feel like less of a person. I care about everyone's health, even if they don't themselves... and I at least have to try once, ya know?

:hugs: It's not meant at all to be condecending, and if it's taken that way I am truly sorry.

I stopped smoking when I got my bfp with my daughter, 5 years ago on Wednesday past! I have never smoked since, and never will. I found it so easy to quit when preg, but doubt I could quit again, so def won't be starting again. I can honestly say I haven't had any cravings anyway!

Hubby smokes, outside only obviously.

Only just read this thread! Iv never ever smoked and never will!!! Although every one else in my family does smoke including my 16yr old sister. Everyone is surprised that i dont! I also hope my son doesnt when he is older but thats his choice!

Do you think your children are more likely to smoke when they are older if you do?

Me mum and dad dont smoke, neither do any of me family but i did  so the didnt influence me. XxX

I think it has somewhat of an effect. My parents both smoked, and honestly in my mind when I started smoking I thought "what can they say about it, they both smoke too!"

I think it's more the environment and your circle of friends who influence it? Thats just my opinion.

None of my friends smoke, neither did pretty much anyone in my old high school so there really wasn't anyone to pick it up from.

But we were 'social smokers' just here and there. It stopped when we graduated.

I agree, ALL me friends are smokers, and nearly everyone in me year in school did.XxX

I dont know ... my mum has NEVER even tried a fag, but others in my family do smoke, and i ended up smoking.

Whereas my younger brother as a child hated smoking, if anyone went near him with a fag he said it made him feel sick and he swore up until he was about 14 that he would never smoke, he was so anti smoking it was unreal!! And guess what he does now .... smoke
