I got 2 jobs, and one of them i will be able to get smp from, but i have just found out that i cant get smp from my second job as i dont earn enough a week so i thought i could claim ma instead, but now ive been reading on the directgov website and it said on there that, if you're entitled to Statutory Maternity Pay (from any of your employers, even if you have more than one) you won't be eligible for Maternity Allowance.
So now im just gonna have to cope with alot less money than i thought.... Whats the f*****g point of working when you dont get any kind of help when you need it:growlmad:. Just starting to wonder how we will cope...

Rant over.

You are only entitled to either SMP or MA not both and depending on who you work for any extra money that your company give

sorry not sure i fully understand

if i am reading you right you are entitled to smp anyway?

What i mean is that i thought i was going to get smp for both my jobs but as I dont earn enough on one of them I cant get smp for that one.
I just was in a bit of a mood yesterday and needed a rant especially after finding out that i cant get ma on that job i cant get smp from..
So i still get smp from my main job. But i will be getting less money a month to what im used to, thats all... and started worrying if we would be able to cope.. Just got a bit stressed out and needed to moan.

Unfortunately you can only claim SMA or MA from ONE job. Which obv is abit rubbish if you're used to money from 2 jobs.

What is sma? Is that the same as smp?
Anyway, you can claim smp on both jobs as long as you live up to the "rules" for smp... But as i dont, on one of the jobs, we will miss out on money we are used to.

SMA is milk .. lol sorry i meant smp .. and obv you can only claim one as you only meet that criteria .. so yeh you knew all this already .. bit of a non needed post by myself really :D

It's been a long day.

MA (Maternity Allowance) is usually for those who are self employed, or who have contributions in a tax year, but currently not working with an employer (conditions apply) and is payable at £124.88 for 39 weeks.

It's also non taxable.

SMP (Statutory Maternity Pay) is payable by your employer, at 90% of your salary for the first 6 weeks, then at £124.88 for the remaining 33 weeks. Again, conditional on the terms of your employment and current earnings.
