Hiya
Well I go back to work in 4 weeks. I cant believe how fast the past 9 months so far has gone!! Anyway my work are great and because only I do my job it is great with hours. I used to do 37 hours over 5 days.
When I go back to work I planned on going back 3 days and doing 27 hours over the 3 days (9 per day). 27 hours money will be tight so is the least I can do and I didnt want to spend more days at work than I would with lo. I planned on working say 8-5 or 9-6 mon, tue & fri.
For the first couple of weeks I planned on booking the friday as annual leave just to get me and lo eased into it all. I have gone to work today and had a general chat with my manager and she said if I like I can do flexi for at least the first couple of weeks save having to use my annual leave if I wanted. She said either way is fine by her. I am also being left to choose what hours I want to work as I said they are flexible and are open from 8am monday to friday and close at approx 7pm on mon and tues 8pm on wed and fri and 3pm on a thurs (with option to stay working til 5).
I am just not sure whatto do now! Lol. We are relying on grandparents for childcare. The one who will mainly be caring for her is approx 30 min walk one way then would take me approx 1 hour to then walk to work (we dont drive and cant afford regular bus fares).
Do I squeeze the 27 hours into 3 days as planned and leave lo or long periods as planned or do I spread the 27 hours somehow. Or maybe ask if as long as I do my 27 hours per week I can do flexi? How would hols work with that though? I used to work 5 days a week and got 25 days + bank hols per year and if I was working 3 days a week I would get 15 days plus bank hols sodont get how would work if did flexi if that is an option. Lol.
What would/do you do?!!!!
ADDED: Also if I dont work a monday I would get bank holidays in lieu but if I do flexi hours/days how would it work with bank holidays does anyone know. Lol.
ADDED: Cant decide if worth working over 4 days and working 30 hours a week for an extra £65 a month for us. I do feel bad as grandparents will be taking care of lo and we cant afford to pay them on a regular basis. We will have approx £230 a month left I think it is which will be used for hol savings, nappies, days out for lo and clothing when needed.
