So a coworker of mine gave me a ride home from work today and he told me about a conversation he had with our GM. He stated that he told our GM thank you for hiring me because I'm great at what I do. He then went on to tell me the GM's response which was, "Oh nice to hear because everyone else has given me a hard time about hiring the pregnant girl." Mind you, I am the ONLY female employee in the area that I work and it is a physical job, but I do my work and don't let my pregnancy be an issue. I don't know if it's just my hormones, but I was really upset by this. I've got nothing but great reviews from my GM but being called the "pregnant girl" and knowing people have had a problem with my being pregnant is harsh to me. It's bad enough that I'm the only female so I'm probably looked at as the weakest one, but to know they think even less of me because I'm pregnant really upsets me. Idk, am I being too sensitive?

I'd be upset, too. You're a person, not just a walking pregnancy. Some people don't have any tact.

Id be upset too. This is one of the reasons why I am afraid to tell my job

I can see no reason why your co worker found it necessary to tell you that!? Don't take his word as gospel... there's always the risk that second hand words have been twisted etc, even though it is easier said than done I would try and let it go over your head.

If the men you work with are actually being funny about you being pregnant you are so far above them anyway!

I agree with leahtaba. This guy could be twisting things-your only heRing part of a conversation, what else was said? Who instigated this line if conversation? Etc etc

Sounds like work place politics to me, so i would just rise above the stupid comments. :flower:

There is something about being pregnancy that makes people really rude and ignore us as persons :hugs:

I can totally see them saying this. As they are all VERY outspoken and not my cup of tea to be around. This particular guy is the most tender hearted of the bunch which is why I've taken a liking to him. He's such a gentle soul. That's not to say words weren't twisted but I can definitely see this being said. This guy actually didn't realize that he offended me. He actually though he was giving me a compliment by praising my work performance. Plus, my GM asked me the other day, "Are you gonna have that baby tomorrow." Which I thought was kind of rude. To which I replied, "My pregnancy is not going to affect my work performance. "He then tried to back it up and say that wasn't his concern, his concern was my being out for maternity leave.
