Add onion, mushrooms (and italian herbs if you like).
Add 1/2 teaspoon of garlic paste.
Add tomatoe puree (half a tube).
Add a tin of tomatoes.
Simmer for 30-45 minutes.

Traditionally you would add some, italian herbs and omit that much Garlic,it is more french with that amount but depends on personal taste, aslo would use pure beef that has been ground so more of a ragu but tastes lovely all the same.

Also did you know that the sauce was originally made from Boar

i never new it i use lasy garlic i use one or the other is up to the cook !!!

I bought lazy garlic after seeing Imi uses it

I use lazy garlic, stops your fingers smelling and a garlic press is murder to get clean. Is it me or does there seem alot ot tomatoes in this recipe, tinned, passata and puree. I tend to use passata or fresh tomatoes. I also like to add bacon, usually pancetta, another traditionally italian twist.

Mmmm no I used tins toms & puree :D I sent OH to Tesco yesterday actually to get passata & confused the poor f'er  ... I got puree! lol

It does sound a bit too tomatoey for me but dunno I aint no expert

what about green tomatoes or yellow ones

tin of toms add passta as it give volume and when it simmers u still have sauce left as well as lump tom bits too

Mmmm I like tomatoes plenty of in my spag bol & herbs.

Defo can't have too much in my eyes although I wouldn't use the passata & puree I would use one or other win tinned toms.

:D
