Hi ladies I think I'm suffering with Spd

I have pains in my groin, pains on the inside of my legs,
It hurts to stand and walk, I have a pressure feeling in my bum and a weird ache and always a heavy feeling in my stomach.

I'm wondering if anyone has had any relief with using a maternity belt or pyshio?

I'm also wanting to take paracetamol to help with the pain but I daren't take it daily :(

Hi,

I suffered on my first pregnancy terrible with spd. I found physio helped, the pregnancy belt not so much. My physiotherapist was trained in acupuncture, so I would have that every week. It relieved the pain for a few days. I found sleeping with a pillow between my knees also helped and twisting to get out the car. Swimming is also good, but no breast stroke. Gently walking up and down a pool in the shallow end will help. I want prescribed cocodamol 30/500 to help with the pain towards the end though.

I've got SPD. As I'm experiencing it now, I forget how it felt in my last pregnancy (though I know it was a LOT worse in the last pregnancy, but I was much further on too!) -- mine is a bruised/aching feeling between my legs, my right hip hurts a lot, and I have the heavy belly feeling too. My pelvis just feels wobbly and sometimes it takes a few attempts to stand up out of a chair as I just don't feel solid, if that makes sense!

I'm not sure about the support belts - I've read they can help, and I've read they don't make any difference. I am going to see a physical therapist on Monday though, for the first time. My doctor swears it will help, and I'm really looking forward to it!

Besides looking forward to the PT, I can say that the only things that have helped my SPD is resting (sitting in a soft chair) and getting on my hands and knees offers full relief, as it takes all the pressure off your pelvis.

I believe paracetamol is like Tylenol? If so, to be honest, I don't find Tylenol to really offer much pain relief for my SPD. Its one of those situations where an ounce of prevention...

Definitely ask to get referred in for physio and you can ask about chiropractors too, as I hear that can help. In the meantime, just do your best to rest, don't walk too much, wear flat comfortable shoes, and walk slowly/with smaller strides. (Honestly, if your in too much pain, crawling on the floor can be easier... I remember crawling around in my last pregnancy, especially in the mornings, as walking was just too painful. It felt shameful though so I never let my husband catch me crawling LOL!)

SPD sucks. I'll try to remember to report back after Monday if I feel the physical therapist is going to be able to help. :flower:

I have it, had it terrible in last pregnancy, couldn't walk more then a few feet in the end, or sit in any kind of theatre/cinema chair, so no fun stuff for me!

I've got physio booked for this time, I go swimming 3 times a week, just kicking with my legs (no breaststroke) and often walking the shallow end. That really helps!
Keep knees together as much as possible, I found in the later stages sitting on a birthing ball way better then any chair. Chairs honestly killed me!
