My oh had SA 10 years ago when he and his ex wife had IVF. His sperm analysis was great on all counts.

Ten years on should he have another or can we assume its still good?

Personally I think it should be done every 3-6 months, depending on the initial results ... if they are great all round then perhaps it's not so important to check them as often.

DF's has improved dramatically but will be checked regularly - so many things can affect it and we want to know if there are any changes as it can affect our funding, our chances and also whether I need to bother taking meds such as clomid.

So in short, yeah, if it was done 10 years ago def get it checked, a lot change change in 10 years

I think he should be checked again. A lot could've changed in 10 years. Good luck! xx

Hi Hun

If you are having problems conceiving and you go to your GP, they will most likely do the usual blood work for you and a sperm analysis for your DH. Depending on the result they should do a follow up one 70-90 days later as it takes this long for sperm to mature. Things such as colds/illness/flu can all affect a man's sperm count.

SA's can go up and down over time depending on other factors as well - FX is still okay xx

Yes he shoud....As my Fertility Specialist said: "Things change!" My DH has two kids from a previous marriage and still had to be tested. Test came back ok...Thank God! My friend's DH, who also has a child got tested and had a very low count..... I know they hate doing it, but it's good to tick this off the list.

I have had my bloods done and I am on clomid. Oh has 2 kids via ivf from first marriage and on the basis of that he isnt being tested! They will be 10 years old in march!!!
