Hi all! I'm pretty new, so hopefully I'm posting this question in the correct spot. My hubby recently got his first SA back, and I'm pretty concerned over the results. His overall count was ok at 98 million, but the motility was low. I guess the total motility was 25%, but of that 25% I think she said that 23% was forward moving. I have long cycles (possibly PCOS??) and we didn't even suspect a problem with dh, we were just doing it before starting me on clomid. The doctor said we can try clomid for a couple months, but probably IUI would be our best bet. Has anyone had any success with motility that low?? I'm pretty devastated by this news

The overall count is not ok- its outstanding!! I know the motility is not great, however just remember its 25% off 98 million. That's a hell of a lot more than some men who have 'normal' counts. You still have a good chance of conceiving naturally. My husband has been on a few supplements, one of the main being selenium, but he also has something called alpha limphoic acid- or something like that. Anyway, his count is around 56 million, of this 50% is motile. Compare the two and you roughly have the same figures, and we've been told he is fine. We're not conceiving due to a blocked tube so, hang in there, its still very possible xx

I have pcos and my partner is going for a SA on the 16th I'm so nervous because I'm scared to here he has a low sperm count or something! Good look x

The count is outstanding. I did a quick search, and I'm going to link a few websites for you that suggest possible natural ways to improve motility (or lessen the effects of low motility):

My DH and I get his SA results on Monday and we are both a bit nervous to know what they are as well. Best of luck, and I hope the links help!

Yeah, that sounds like a good count.

We just got my OH's results back the other day and he was at 189million in a smaller than average sample (which is something else to consider, do you know the size of your OH's sample?) My OH only has 30% motility, but that still works out at about 56million, so the doctor said she wasn't too concerned about him at the moment.

The thing to remember as well is that it can fluctuate, it might chance in the next sample. All sorts of things can affect it, so if you are referred to a specialist, they would probably want to check another sample anyway.

Thanks so everyone! I'm def gonna check out some supplements for him!!! Idk all the numbers, I asked over the phone and the office wasn't super helpful so I am planning on goin in and getting a printout to look at closer. But you all have been super helpful and supportive

That makes me feel better about not asking what the numbers were over the phone. We are going in to hear and talk about the results today and I plan to make sure that I get a print out of them as well.

Good luck!! I hope the supplements work for your hubby as well as I've heard/read about them working for others! :hugs:
