Spotting Before Period Since TTC

@Lauren - What are your temps doing? Have you noticed they've started to drop?

@beloved - I think so, yes. My lowest temp above the coverline was 97.4 on 2dpo. It hovers just above the coverline. My other temps have been around 97.6-97.8. This am I temped 97.4 again, so it looks like they're not getting higher. Also had some red blood this morning--not bright but still red, and cramps.

@Lauren- Gotcha. Keep an eye on them. Temps will usually start to drop a day or so before AF, or possibly the day of AF....and at the latest a day after AF starts. Just keep positive....I've read lots of stories of women who thought for sure they were getting their period but then it stopped and they turned out to be pregnant after all!! :)

@beloved - Thanks for the encouragement :) That happened to my mother-in-law when she was pregnant with my husband. How's your month turning out?

@Lauren - Still no spotting here, but I can feel my stress level rising. I'm freaking out that the next hour, the next minute, the next second could be when I start spotting. I've never gone this long without spotting since TTC. I'm not due for my period until Monday or Tuesday. This weekend is going to be torture!!

Ok, it's definitely AF for me. My temp plummeted this morning. I feel really discouraged this month--I have felt a little disappointed in past months when I wasn't pregnant, but this feels harder for some reason. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

@Lauren- I am so sorry to hear that AF arrived :( She is such a witch!

I think I understand why this month is more upsetting than others. For me, I've never gone this long without spotting. At least the other months, when I started spotting so soon after ovulating, I could kind of start to prepare myself for the worst case scenario. When AF finally did arrive, it wasn't a total shock. I will be absolutely crushed if I get my period in the next few days. It's a cruel torture....elated that spotting held off so long, but then doubly crushed if AF shows up.

I am practically beside myself today as it is. My temp dropped this morning by half a degree. It's still above the coverline, but I totally lost it when I saw it. I'm sure I won't be able to sleep tonight because I'll be obsessing over whether my temp will rise back up tomorrow morning. So I know what you mean about why this month is so hard.

Keep your head up....

When you talk about your mother inlaw. Was she having spotting issues? I just wondet because when we heard that no-one could report bfps here I was very disappointed as I would like to hear some stories that would instill some faith. I started spotting today-20 days since I last did and less than a week since my period ended :(

I am so happy to have come across this thread!!! This is exactly what I needed to read. I have had normal periods for 18 years. I have never taken BC. My cycle is usually 29-30 days. This is my very first cycle TTC. I got a +OPK on CD14. On 6DPO I had some spotting just one time while going to the bathroom. Of course I assumed this was implantation bleeding, since I have never had spotting before. But, the next day I spotted a few more times. Only noticed it when I wiped. The next day, it was showing up every time I wiped. It was mostly brown and mixed with discharge. But, on Monday (9DPO) I had bright red blood & tiny clots. Sometimes when I wipe there is nothing there, other times it's very faint pink, other times it's bright red.

It's continued since, so today makes 7 days. I called and spoke with a nurse. I said it seems like an odd coincidence that my very first month TTC I have this odd spotting??? I was told that as long as I am not bleeding as much or more than my period, that just spotting is nothing to worry about. It could be many things. AF is due this weekend so she said if it doesn't arrive that I could try testing.

I was glad I don't need to "worry" but it still doesn't give me an explanation as to why this is happening now, my first month TTC, and it has never happened before?? I am not using any supplements or on any medication at all. I just don't understand. :(

@hello - I really think it's no big deal--I've had the spotting now for months and some months it's longer than others. My OB really assured me that it will not prevent me from getting pregnant. I thought I got it starting my first month TTC, too, but I noticed that I hadn't watched my periods closely until then, either. It could be that. Also, this last month my stress level was knocked down about 10 notches, and I had way, way less spotting. Only for about 1 day before AF. Keep us posted on what happens!

@MRS - She had a full period then found out she was pregnant...so I don't think she was having the issue. Have you had any tests done? What does your OB say? Mine really feels that the spotting is fine. Could you have ovulation bleeding if it's 7 days past your period?

Well today AF officially arrived. I will be very interested to see if I get the spotting again mid cycle this time.

I'm having some confusion this month with my chart--does anyone else here chart? @beloved, I know you have, but don't know if you've had this happen. I got crazy EWCM on day 12, then started drying up a bit after. I'm on day 14 and my temps haven't shifted yet--at least I don't think they have. If they have, then the morning I recorded the shift was the morning of day 12, when I got EWCM (the EWCM was at the end of the day)....My understanding was that EWCM dries up pretty instantly after the temp spike. Any insights??

@Lauren - I never went by EWCM. I've read from other ladies that they count on that as their sure sign of ovulation, but I never really relied on it. Plus, some months I had it; and others I barely had any; and some months none at all. What I would rely on is the temp spike. My EWCM almost never lined up perfectly with my actual ovulation date...I usually got it one or two days before my temp spike. I would rely most heavily on your temps....have they increased by at least half a degree and stayed there?

@beloved - Well, they went up 2/10th's of a degree on the EWCM day (morning of) and have stayed up there. The highest the 6 days prior was 96.8 and they went up to 97 and have stayed there. That may not be enough of an increase, so it's possible I haven't ovulated yet. Got positive OPK yesterday and today, so I'm guessing I haven't yet--the EWCM and 2/10th's temp increase confused me. I suppose I will only be able to tell in retrospect what happened!

@Lauren- Technically, the temp shift has to be at least 0.2....but it is usually half a degree or more. And sometimes you won't spike until up to 48 hours after ovulation. If you're getting positive OPKs now, I'd say you might see a bigger temp jump in a day or so. Let me know what happens :)

@beloved - I had no idea about the 48 hrs! Is it 48 hrs after I test + OPK, or after I actually ovulate? This will comfort me today--still no temp spike even though I've gotten two consecutive + OPKs. Also no more CM...I traveled this month, so wondering if that is maybe delaying ovulation at all. Of course now I feel stressed and scared that I won't ovulate, which may in turn cause a delay in my ovulation, haha. Anyway, yes, still low temps today, but will keep my head up...Maybe tomorrow am.

@Lauren - From what I've read, you may not see the temp spike until 48 hours after actual ovulation. With my latest chart, I had positive OPKs two days before I ovulated and a third positive OPK the day of ovulation, accompanied by the temp spike. A positive OPK indicates that you will most likely ovulate within the next 48 hours. So you could get your first positive OPK on Monday, not ovulate until Wednesday, and then not see your temp spike until Thursday or Friday. It can be so confusing!

It is crazy!! I guess every body is different and one body can differ greatly from month to month, lol. I was totally under the impression that the temp spike happens within 24 hours of ovulation--I guess I didn't pay great attention to the part in my reading that says exactly what you're saying! OK. Being patient :) The other weird thing is that this month my breasts are kind of tender right before ovulation--I know it's a sign of impending ovulation, I've just never had it before! Any indication helps, I guess.

Ladies - I became a member of Fertility Friend so I could chart online. They have different galleries of charts that you can look at--you can specifically view pregnancy charts where the woman spotted throughout her cycle. It's encouraging! Just thought I'd let you all know :)
