My little girl is nearly 6 months old and we have been told by a few friends etc that was can stop sterilising the bottles now. She puts everything in her mouth anyway!!

Is this true? Seems early to me?

My own opinion is im going to keep steralising bottles untill we no logner need them, milk can breed some harmfull bacteria and i would rather make sure the bottles were cleaned properly

im not sure if it has changed but when i had my daughter 2 yrs ago health visitor told me the guidelines was 12 mnths before u shud stop

I have reads loads of books etc and have not found that there is simple answer! ... its pretty split with the advice given, some say 6 mth, others say 12 months.
I decided to stop at 6 mth, but that's only cos I have a dish washer that cleans with very hot water and steams the things dry - so in effect is sterilised.
If I didn't have that I would have continued to use the actual steriliser til she was maybe 1.

Guidelines may be different in the UK than they are here in the US, but sterilizing bottles isn't nesessary unless directed by a doctor or health care advisor.
