Do you sterilise spoons and bowls and things when feeding a baby under 6 months?

I started weaning at 23 weeks and I sterilised everything until he was just over 6 months. Now I only do his bottles and everything else just gets a good wash, I usually just wash his things first so they get the cleanest water!

Thank you. Lo is 21 weeks and I'm thinking of starting soon.

No probs! I just did it for the first few weeks becuase I read that you should until they are 6 months tbh! If I hadn't have read that I prob would have just washed them! Obvs I only mean his food things, milk bottles are still done!

Me personally, no I wouldn't bother. We didn't start weaning until 6 months, but she did often have a spoon to chew on for about a month before that. I'd maybe wash it every couple days, but not even every day. I figure everything else is going in her mouth, including her hands after rubbing them all over the dirty floor, so there wasn't anything I was too concerned about. I think as long as your baby is otherwise healthy and everything is washed well in hot water, then it's fine. Germs are good for healthy babies.

I didn't bother to sterilise spoons and bowls, I still sterilise his bottles though

Thank you. I think I'll sterilise them for as long as we are using formula in her foods.
