This started a couple of days ago. I'm only 28 weeks today, have already had a preterm labor scare, but anyway. My fiance and I were walking home from getting groceries and I started getting sharp, stinging pain in my vagina. We get home, I pee, lay down on the bed and it stops, but yesterday it started again, just not as frequent as it was on the first day it happened and now today it's back. I do NOT have a UTI or any other type of infection as I was already tested VERY recently so that's not it. Just to mention, it is not always relieved by peeing or laying down. Sometimes it happens during one or the other of those things. Any other ladies experiencing this?

I had sharp stabbing/stinging pain when baby started engaging and putting pressure on nerves down there. X

Make sure to inform your obgyn. Maybe ur baby is now head down which can happen early for some. I have been having this same feeling for weeks now . Not really sure what causes it but what fernihough said makes sense as i get pains in my hip/leg that feels like nerves being crushed. I hope ur lo stays put til 37+ weeks.

I have just experienced this exact same pain yesterday until today, and then baby must have shifted his position this afternoon as it has gone away. I was really worried that baby was already dilating my cervix... I will also suggest you to mention it the next time you see your OB/Gyn/midwife as would I in my next appointment!

Thanks guys! I am not sure when my next appointment with the midwife is, but my glucose test is on Thursday. I will probably mention it to my maternity counselor (she is the one administering the glucose test) and hope that she will let my midwife know. I hope he stays put too. <3

Okay, so I'm getting some discharge, I feel better today but that area feels really heavy. I'm starting to think it IS pressure. I will still notify the doctors, but wanted to update.

Ended up in the hospital yesterday in Labor & Delivery again. I got a UTI test done again, sure enough, it came up negative. I got a swab test done, didn't realize it was just a q-tip and screamed in agony. A little q-tip was painful. I don't have any type of infections. I wasn't having any contractions, but I told the nurse that my son's head feels like it's low down. She told me she would check me to see if I was dilating if it made me feel more comfortable. I asked her to, but she couldn't because it was so painful (and apparently, I'm tighter than normal) and said that the possible diagnosis is vaginismsus, but she isn't 110% and I need to see my midwife, ASAP. I have an appointment to see the maternity counselor on Thursday, but couldn't get in to see my midwife until next Wednesday. Huge problem is all the doctors available are male doctors until Friday and my fiance works and I want him to be there, but we did decide if this is still going on tomorrow, to reschedule for Friday morning before my fiance heads into work.

ETA: Atlas looks super healthy according to them. It's me that's the problem. This is a recurring theme in all our appointments. They gave me Tylenol which actually did work for a few hours. I still felt like Atlas was really heavy down there and his head was down there/lots of pressure, but it stopped stinging.

It could even be a low grade thrush infection. I get these frequently without the usual thrush symptoms, only the tenderness and stabbing pain. Ask your doc or MW for a swab to confirm.

I already got a swab. It came up negative, but thank you. :)

When you say you were tested for uti did they send it to the lab or just dip it? I had a clean dip last time I saw MW but insisted she sent it as I was symptomatic and it was indeed a UTI.

Other than that I hope they can come up with an answer for you.

I was tested one week with a lab, two weeks later with another scare, with another lab. All testing they put me through was sent to the lab. :( My fiance was for certain it was an infection, the doctors were too both times. Turned out wrong both times. :( We are going to find out soon. I'm happy that Atlas is healthy, but worried about everything else. I have had the stinging sensation again during the day. :( It feels so heavy when I walk.

We went to the midwife today. We walked at just as confused as we were before. Our midwife went with the vaginismus diagnosis, but not really. She said the reason she doesn't believe that it's vaginismus is because the pain happens when I am walking or laying down, not just when something is inserted. She said she wanted me to go ahead with the treatment for vaginismus and then call her and let her know what happened, come to her office in the next two weeks and if the pain hasn't stopped, it's time to see my OB/GYN instead. She was really doubtful it was vaginismus but it was all she had to offer. All the symptoms all sounded unusual to her and when she pressed on me to get measurements, that also worried her because there shouldn't be pain where she pressed. Baby Atlas's heartbeat was still good, though and he's looking awesome...Mommy might not be. She also almost had me take yet another urine test, but I told her that I had already been tested twice in the past few weeks. At first, she insisted, but then asked me again, "You don't think it's urine related?" and I said no and so she agreed that I didn't need the test.
