Hi does anyone else have this?

I had it with my son, not sure about this pregnancy yet. The only thing they did is put me on antibiotics during labor.

I had it with both previous pregnancies. First one I didn't know until 5 minutes before she was born, so had no antibiotics but neonatal etc was called for the moment she came out to make sure she was alright. There wasn't a problem. Second time I had antibiotics in labour. (Through an actually quite painful drip in my hand). Had to go into hospital as soon as I went into labour, and then baby was monitored for 24 hours after the birth, so I had to stay in a bit longer. Again though it was fine. Just an extra consideration!

Ok thank you. We have to stay in fr monitoring anyway as baby may be born with the same health defect I was so they just want to be sure before sending us home.

They found gbs in my urine at my booking in app and every sample since that they've sent away. Been on 3 rounds of antibiotics already!

I have a sticker on my notes saying im gbs+ and have to go into hospital as soon as labour starts to have antibiotics. They said I might have to stay in so they can monitor baby too.

I'm also considered "heavily colonized" group B strep positive too! Always in my urine sample! I received antibiotics when in labor with dd and will do the same this time!! It freaked me out when I first found out with dd but it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Apparently you aren't supposed to have stretch/sweeps when GBS+ , I did with dd but now I know better so won't be doing it this time (they didn't help anyway )!

I had it with my first and thank God I did because I had to go to the hospital as soon as labor started to start antibiotics. Soon after arriving we found out that DS was in distress and I had to have an EMCS right away. We found out the cord was around his neck along with a knot. If I didn't have gbs, I wouldn't have gone to the hospital right away. It saved his life.

I had it with first pregnancy, it was found during the later stages so they sent me a letter saying that as soon as my waters broke I need to come straight in! I did that as my waters broke at home and was given antibiotics through drip every 4 hours throughout labour x

I'm a carrier, too. It's all right. My doctor isn't concerned at all. Yes, they do want me to do 2 hours of antibiotics before giving birth (really awful, as I hate antibiotics). I haven't had any problems, though. I take a really good probiotic daily, so I don't get the upset tummy that antibiotics usually give me. My babies are all perfect, and I'm not worried about it, either. You probably shouldn't be, either. The fact that you know you're a carrier (and a huge percentage of the population carries GBS) means you can treat it so it doesn't affect your baby during delivery.

I've been gbs+ with all 3. And so far it hasn't caused any problems. Just an hour of iv antibiotics while in labor, not a real big deal.
