probably over nothing because I'm fairly certain Hannah's top teeth are going to be coming through soon (she's got two bottom teeth almost all the way through). Anyways Hannah's always been below average on what she "should" drink. We average around 13 ounces a day now...on a good day 16 ounces but those are few and far between at the moment. Today she's only had around 7 ounces despite us trying to feed her about 6 times  We're going to dream feed later but we can't keep doing that, I do not want her to get back into the habit of eating at night!! I was resigned to the fact that Hannah just doesn't drink as much milk as others until MIL had to start getting involved in it and telling me that she needs more milk blah blah blah.

So what did you others do who have babies who don't drink much formula? She's eight months old on Monday and hasn't had any cows milk yet...should we try mixing the two to see if she likes it better or just keep persevering with the formula? I do try to give her dairy but I have to be careful because she gets constipated. Should she be on vitamins since she's not taking as much milk?

Hey chick!

I don't know what you have over there, but do you have like a "follow-on" formula??

Here in UK, it's one designed for 6+ months as it has extra iron and vitamins in... I've just started Morgan on it today on HV advice as, like Hannah, she's never been a big milk drinker and so she can get all the nutrients she needs on less milk. The tin does suggest that from 6-12 months, they need about 500-600mls a day (about a pint) and about half that from 12 months.

Sorry, no advice Vickie but congratulations on Hannah's teeth coming through. She is sooo cute in your avatar picture of her - loving the intellectual look!

xxx

They do have that here, but someone else told me it had LESS vitamins and minerals in it  I think I'll be doing some investigating on this...definitely worth buying it she can get more nutrients out of it

This is what I'm giving Morgan now:

There's a bit of a write up about it on that page.... might give you an idea of what to look for?

am going to look into this after dinner thanks Tabs :hugs:

have you thought about mixing some milk with her good vickie, like when you mix baby rice and veggies and milk? just a thought, but she sounds like she's doing great, just though horrible painful teeth :hugs: x x

She has her cereal in the mornings and we mix her formula in there, but not really with her others foods....she likes texture and gets annoyed with foods that are runny....actually getting to the point that she has to have a finger food every time she eats or we can't get her to eat anything! Stubborn little thing, don't know where she gets it from :angelnot:

I tried the follow on milk when max was not eating much but it didnt make a diff ..hope it works out for your LO

With jacob i mix 6oz in total into his food throughout the day on top of the 12-16oz he takes in the day out a bottle. Easier now because he is smaller and has pureed food anyway.

If she likes textured food what about mixing some rice with 2oz but so its thick and mix it in anything she is having. So it aint runny?? Maybe you've tried that XxX

It is obviously paining her to suck on a bottle or sippy cup because of her teeth coming in. Tried just using a normal cup, hon?

I know Chase has been weird with his bottle recently now and he's been taking less. His teething is really paining him.
