I was wondering approximately when you ladies noticed stretch marks (if you had any) on your first pregnancy and were there more marks in subsequent pregnancies if you've had more than 1 child.

I noticed that I started getting them around 30 weeks with my first, and then I don't think I got any new ones with my second, despite the fact that I was bigger with him. The worst were the stretch marks on my bum. Thankfully DH has always been very kind about it, but it makes me feel self-conscious. But I will say that they did fade from red to a sort of silvery white so they aren't as noticeable anymore.

I was lucky and didn't get any during my first pregnancy. Waiting to see what happens this time....

I didn't get any with my first (maybe one or two tiny ones on my hips) but I had silvery ones on my hips and bum and a few on my thighs anyways. I don't know why as I've always been slim. Was just glad not to get any on my tummy or boobs really. Fingers crossed the same for this time round

I don't remember exactly when I got them although it was late in the pregnancy.
With my first I got large, spaced out stretch marks at the bottom of my stomach and around the love handles.
I thought I was done, but #2 pushed in different spots, and I got tons of thin lines above my belly button.
They are all pretty faded by now! But I am worried about where #3 will cause them :p

I started getting them at 34 weeks with 1st, no new ones with second but obviously I noticed the old ones a bit more and 3rd I have nothing yet but not really showing that much yet so there's time haha

38/39 weeks and then they all appears overnight :-( gutted!

Didn't get any with dd2 or this one so far though.

I didn't get any stretch marks with my first until 38 weeks and it was just 2 or three on my love handle areas. Lol...

My second pregnancy I wasn't so lucky.... I got about 10. 5 on my tummy reaching up to my belly button and a few more on my love handle areas. Oh and my boobs have silver ones that are barely even noticeable... You have to look really close to see them.

With my first I didn't get any, with my second I got a few on my boobs and where my belly button ring use to be....it looks like a little X mark ugh. I don't think I really noticed the stretch marks until after I gave birth

37 weeks with my first; I got 2 or 3 on my stomach and a couple on my lower back. With my second it was a different story.. I can't remember exactly when they started appearing (definitely after 30 weeks) but I got looooads. Lol. My whole lower abdomen was covered. With my third I got a few more at around 35 weeks but they joined onto the top of my existing ones! Since I'm a lot lighter now than I was with my last two babies and the skin on my tummy is sort of loose I'm hoping I don't get any more this time round.

Thanks for all the replies ladies. Looks like if they appear, I might have them appear in my 3rd tri and not start worrying about them yet.

None with my first...gained 42 lbs. 1 small 1 inch right above belly button with my second.......gained 30 lbs. Both went full term and both were just under 7 lbs. Recommendations would be to never scratch your belly, keep it moisturized and drink plenty of water. Not that you can exactly prevent them if they are gonna happen, but it can help! Oh an none so far with #3, but I'm only 19 weeks.

I'll keep those suggestion in mind. It's hard to follow the not to scratch part, lol

I think the scratching preceded my tummy stretch marks for sure, because it seems like wherever I got stretch marks, I can remember being really itchy in that same area a few weeks before. However, I don't think the scratching caused them, since the damage happens under the top layer of skin, and people seem to be genetically predisposed to get stretch marks or not, regardless of what they do. I think the itchiness was just my skin's way of letting me know that it was irritated by the all the stretching going on.

I hear ya. It's the growing/stretching of the skin that causes the itching. Scratching can cause little tears in the skin. May not cause stretch marks, but certainly won't help. When I get the itch I put lotion on right away and it goes away. Also, if at possible, avoid rapid weight gain. You can only control this so much I've learned. Seems baby is gonna put on weight however he/she wants, but you can do your part by eating healthy.

That kind of makes sense. I'm keeping my tummy and behind moisturized. I have not had contact with my birth mother for almost 25 years now, so no idea if I'll be exempt or get them regardless of what I do.

I didn't get any with DS until I went over due! 10 days late and some popped up on my lower tummy. They were never dark though just skin coloured, this time around I got a big scar on my tummy from surgery and now I have stretch marks already appearing through the scar. It's so ugly !!!
