Success stories with Male Factor Infertility

Have loved reading through all of the pages of this thread - it gives me hope! DH's SA came back with 1% morphology, all other factors were fine. I just switched his multivitamin to MegaMen and have ordered Fertilaid and am going to pick up some CoQ10. Then crossing my fingers for a few months.

We've been referred to a FS since we're on our 15 cycle, but I'm still holding out hope for a natural BFP before we start in with the FS.

MLtoDC, good luck I hope the supplements work for you!

We had our second SA a couple of weeks ago and one month on vit and sups was just not enough for us and the results were much worse than the first time. We're still and 0 morph and the count dropped to 4mil. It was discouraging but we are not giving up. I know we have to give it at least 3 months. My DF had an urologist visit yesterday and they are running some blood tests to rule out hormonal imbalance but now it just looks like IVF will be our only option. We are looking at January so maybe by then his sperm will be at least good enough for regular IVF.

So I have some exciting news. On Thursday, at 5/6 DPO, I got red streaks when I wiped from 1:45pm until 7pm and then nothing, and I had quite a bit. It made me think maybe I was in the beginning stages of early AF. Someone tried to say it was probably due to my husband and me having sex the night before. Then the next day (yesterday) I only had one occurance of pink (6/7 DPO) and that was at 2pm. We had sex again last night, and there was nothing when I wiped last night or today!! So..... I'm scared and excited, because when I have gotten midcycle spotting it was very hard to see, but this was plain as day there!!!

Sorry to hear that BBbliss. Our doctor had originally scheduled DH to go back after only a month, which I found surprising. Unfortunately DH scheduled his appt for literally the day I should ovulate in Dec, and since we have to not BD for two days before, I asked him to reschedule it since we have such a small chance of conceiving each month anyway. After reading a lot and going through a bunch of threads I told him to schedule it for three months later since it sounds like it would be stupid to spend the money again after just a month since it shouldn't make much of a difference at that point - especially since SA's aren't covered by our insurance, so it's all out of pocket!

And Fx for you DSemcho!

BBbliss don't give up! I've been told things from 2 - 3 months prior can affect sperm. So give it a couple of more months and do another SA. Also maybe try FertilAid if you aren't.

Yeah it is exciting, and nausea kicked in today around 2:30pm and 2 hours later still going.

Oh goodness - fingers and toes crossed for you DSemcho!

I just started a LTTTC journal since I feel like we're in this for the long haul. *sigh*

I don't know what exactly is considered LTTTC. I mean, we never prevented, and we've been together 3 1/2 years.

I'm sure it varies in opinion. For me it's longer than a year of actively trying since that's usually the mark the doctors look for before referring couples to fertility specialists. But again - I'm sure it varies from couple to couple.

Thank you DS, I'm not giving up :) fingers crossed for you! This is totally possible since you already had two BFP! Praying its a good sign!

MIto, I hear you, we schedule our for just after my O. It sounds like you have a good plan ahead. Good luck!

The only thing against me is my age, or I'd just try to wait for improvement with DF sperm. I don't want to wait too long... But I really wish we could just have a natural BFP, my stats are good and I O every month on my own and my hormones seam to be well balanced( from temping). What's meant to be will be...

Our urologist asked my DH to do sperm reactive oxidative test. Has anyone done that before? seems quite useful https://www.clevelandclinic.org/reproductiveresearchcenter/pub/uronews_2007_1.pdf

My DH has only a 1% morph but the rest of his #'s are fine. I have PCOS and do not ovulate without drugs. We weren't expecting the SA news at all. We were devastated, and decided that since I produced 1 good follie with the clomid we'd go ahead and do an IUI this cycle since it would increase our chances. My RE said I shouldn't stress about the morph so much, IUI is our best option but it's not impossible with TI. I think he doesn't want me to stress, since it's so bad for TTC. We decided we won't do IVF, we simply can't afford it. We started DH on antioxidants, L-Carnatine, and mulitvitamins. He hates pills and he gets nauseated with Fertilaid, so that isn't going to happen, but I'll take what I can get. We will start CoQ soon but getting him to take 3 pills is quite a feat in itself.

I love hearing the success stories and hope to be one soon! Someone on another thread is pregnant with her second with a morph of only 1-2% so it happens!

I'm so glad to have come across this thread---my dh had an SA about three weeks ago and the results were devastating....low count at 10 mil/ml, low motility, and ZERO morphology. =( He is now taking fertilaid, switching to decaf coffee, and is avoiding alcohol with hopes of improving those numbers. It's so inspiring and encouraging to read so many success stories here--thank you all for sharing!

DS i have my fingers crossed for you , hope its ur month.

dh 's high viscosity is still HIGH after a month of mucinex and alot of fluids ... its stressing me out ... i cant find anything about viscous semen online.:cry:
i tried conceive plus this cycle maybe it will mix with the semen and change the consistency to give the little swimmers a chance to break free and swim to the egg :(

Hey ladies. So it seems I ovulated for a second time this cycle on the 1st or 2nd. I went in to the doctor this week and she wasn't sure what casued it and found it odd also. She did hint that I should lose weight, but I've been trying to for over a year now so I guess I'll just have to push harder. She is also going to test my progesterone level when I ovulate next cycle, so let's see how that goes. I'm currently 6/7DPO so I've got about 8 days before I should get my menses. And judging by that, I won't get to really try in my December cycle because my DH is going to the states for 3 weeks for work at the beginning of January, but we will see if we might get lucky. I've kinda been avoinding BnB and I don't know why. I seem to be wanting to take a much more relaxed approach to TTC honestly.

DSemco I completely get trying to take a more relaxed approach! I used to be active on several boards about 2 years ago but I made myself crazy. I decided I'd pick one website and stick to it this time. And I also get being told to lose weight. I actually lost 40lbs last year to help with TTC and it didn't make a difference, of course we didn't know DH had a problem with his semen then either. I've decided that making a commitment to being healthy not thin is the best thing to do. I try to exercise a few days a week and although I don't eat exactly what I should I try to include healthy foods everyday. My RE is great he said that while weight can be an issue, it's more the foods you eat and that I'm not "big enough" for him to tell me to lose weight because depriving myself and stressing about losing weight is going to hurt me more than help right now.

I hope you do get lucky and can try this month though.

Thanks! I do eat really healthy (with the occasional Monster Ultra (no carbs/calories/sugars) every blue moon) for the most part. Like last night for dinner I had salmon, green beans and broccoli. This morning I had two over easy eggs, 2 pieces of ham and two slices of wheat toast. I go to the gym at least 4 days a week and do weight lifting with my husband (not the bulk up kind) and then do about 15 - 30 minutes of cardio after that. It's sooo hard to lose fat though!

Good for you! I was doing a lot better with the whole eating thing but have been slacking lately and got the news yesterday that my day 21 progesterone was only a 9 so I didn't O strongly I guess and went totally crazy with food, and I am really feeling it still today lol.

I wish I could eat like you but I hate fish and eggs..sure wish I didn't though. Seems like I spend more time worrying about what DH puts in his system than I do mine.

Guess next round we will be up to 100mg of clomid, I just keep telling myself maybe this time we can hope for twins! Now that would be a miracle!!

Nice. I hope the Clomid works for you.

Got AF yesterday at work, so I should I between 31DEC and 4JAN. Not sure if I'm gonna get to DTD during my O period cause DH is going to the states for 3 weeks for school that is starting on 6JAN. But now AF is due roughly the 16th/17th.
