Success stories with Male Factor Infertility

Thanks, im just worried he has a high level of antisperm antibodies, his SA said "mixed clumping seen". I dont know if its just because it was so soon after the op or asa. He's taking 2000mg vit c daily as it helps with agglutination so I guess we'll see

HI

Sorry to come into your thread

we are 3 years ttc after my dh vr

His sperm and motility are now normal but his morphology is still on 2%

Could you tell me if Grapeseed is good for his morphology? He is taking Fertilaid as that is what has increased his sperm to normal as before it was all 0%

Just got to get that morph to budge and wondered if there is anything in particular aimed at that. Im very soon to be 37, I do not want to do IVF as I already have children and the pressure and upset on me and possibly them I have always said I wouldnt do. (just in case you were wondering why)

He is on Vitamin C 2000mg daily

Have heard people saying about Macca but no idea what that is

Thanks for your help and any advice is grreatly appreciated

Im so sorry you have been trying for so long, it gets very disheartening when you hear of others getting their bfps within weeks of vr. We are only 9 months post vr but this is our 12th cycle and im beginning to loose hope :(
I think you already have ur dh on a good amount of vitamins but ive heard zinc and vit e may help with morph, I just think youve got to be careful as some can cancel the benefits of others out so its a case of finding the right balance.
I also know that regular ejaculate can improve morph, studies have shown a significant increase with periods of abstinence of just 24hrs. The problem with this after vr is shorter periods of abstinence also lower the count
We are trying out a new method of consistently dtd every 2-3 days right through my cycle and he is "cleaning his pipes" during my af to see if it's helped. We get his 2nd SA results tomorrow so ill check back and let you know

Thanks for replying

We dtd every other day when I am near ovulation and up to 7 days after, he doesnt clear his pipes after so I will get him to do that every other day too, lol

Yeh we are a little disappointed, I had a miscarriage in September, I never got a positive test but I was passing large clots (sorry tmi) and I had to have a scan and they said from what was showing and was I was passing they cant be sure but it is what you get when you miscarry, so was a bit mixed because I was happy that it may have worked and then sad because if I was it was all over before I knew and all this time trying

The fertilaid has most of the vitamins in and that is what has given us hope, as we had none before, they dont have the recommened doses of vitamin c so hence why he is taking that. Do you know anything about Grapeseed or maca?

We hope that this year will be our year. Fingers crossed

Yes please do let me know results. I hope that there is some improvement on it all for you

I just wanted you ladies who have been through the VR not to loose hope; it just may take a bit longer. My friend's husband had VR when he was in his 50s, and they were not able to get one side tied together due to scar tissue. They did get halfway successful, and then they proceeded to try for a few more years. It took him some time to get his counts up, but they did, but she still wasn't getting pregnant. Come to find out, she had fibroids, which was preventing the pregnancy. She had the surgery done, and voila, three months later she was pregnant.

Keep having your men take FertileAid. I also have my hubby on Maca, L-Carintine, and Ubioqol. I swear the Ubiqol (not CoQ10) helped immensely! However, my husband has the cards stacked up way against him since he had cancer and his counts really aren't budging. We're finally resorting to IVF, and only because my insurance covers it, otherwise we'd still be trying naturally.

It's all quite frustrating and demoralizing, however, I chose to have a realistic attitude and came to the conclusion that if it never happens, then it never happens. I'm happy either way.

Good luck!

Ive not looked into maca or grape seed, I might just research it and try dh on it if his sa hasn't improved. I only have him Wellman conception and 2000mg vit c at the min so I guess ill just see what results we're getting from them before I expand his pharmacy collection.
I know its of no comfort but having your loss, tells you that you can get pregnant so there is hope yet x

I'm so sorry about the miscarriage, but you must be really encouraged by the improvement in your hubby's sperm with the Fertilaid!

Fertilaid for Men actually does contain grapeseed and maca, but it just does not tell you how much. You might want to try Countboost which is made by the same company as Fertilaid. Countboost is designed to both increase sperm count and improve morphology, so it would probably help to get your hubby's sperm count and morphology even higher.

As promised, here are dh's latest SA results:
Volume: 4.1ml
Count: 15m/ml (previously 26.25 m/ml)
Motility 32% rapid linear, 15% slow progressive, total 47% ( previously 14% rapid linear, 40% slow progressive)
Morphology : 97% abnormal forms (previously 94%).
The also did a MAR test and this is what ive been in tears over all day:
100% IgG
72% IgA
Basically we will never achieve natural pregnancy so it looks like ICSI is our only option.
So no...none of the ridiculously priced fertility vitamins helped in any way at all. Im totally heart broken :(

Sorry to hear! I know exactly how you feel....we are there. Nothing worked for us either. Now starting an IVF cycle...that was my absolute last resort. We shall see.

OK ..so i took a break from the forums bec i got so depressed after DHs second semen analysis wich came out exactly like the first after 4 months of vitamins.

anyway the dr prescribed him:

Trental 400 (aka : pentoxifylline) 3 times a day total 1200mgs

l carnitin 3 times a day total 3000 mgs

thiotacid ( alpha lipoic acid 1200 mgs a day)

he has been on them for 2 months now and if nothing happens soon, dh wil get tested again around april. ill let you know about the results for sure.

ive noticed my dhs semen to be super viscous and stringy , i read it shouldnt stretch more than 2 cm and dhs stretches around 10 cm (that must be abnormal)
mucinex dint work for him at all so hes taking acetylcystein 1200 mgs per day.
if anyone has any experience with this plz tell me what you did to make semen abit more watery.

my DHs semen was like that too, i mean really sticky .. but in november we noticed that it had turned very liquidy and appeared more in amount too .. he had been taking vitamins for more than 2 years now .. the only thing he did different was cut down on carbs and eat lots of vegetables and fruits .. we were going to get tested around april if nothing happened by then but i fell pregnant in december :)

we have been TTC since 2011 .. fell pregnant last year but ended in MMC .. back then DH was on antibiotics for a month and clomid to stimulate sperm production .. his urologist said he might have been having a prostate infection which was causing all the issues with his semen ..

i am really not sure what really worked for us

dhs semen was never so globby and sticky , always watery or more liquidy with higher volume , he had a cold around 6 months ago with high fever and BAM ...his semen completely changed and never returned to normal consistancy again , i tried verything from honey to clomid :(
he has 20 million per mill but with the volume of 2 milliliters andsometimes 1.5 and viscosity is causing the sperm to die quickly and not move right :(
its just so frustrating. i already have a 4 yr old girl (which has become very lonely)
and im felling if it took us about 6 months to conceive when wewere 23 then it will probably take us forever since we are both 29 now :(

From what I've been told by our urologist, drinking 8 pints of water every day vastly improves viscosity. Its also possible for infection to increase viscosity so sometimes antibiotics can help

I'm so excited! We just got new SA and we went from 4 mil to 25mil!! And from 0% morth to 6%!!!

We started with coq10, l cartinine, vit c, pycnogenol for a couple of months and then switched to fertilaid , vit c, ubiquinol about 6wks ago

OMG congratulations...that is an amazing update,
my dh uses l carnitine too i hope we see a change like you .

So here is my "formula" because he refused to take a fertility blend. Btw, his last SA before this one was on November 1st. For three months this is what he took:

Coq10/Lcartinine blend
Larginine 2g
Pycnogenol
Vitamin C 2000
Tribulus
Omega3
Prenatal

yes I made him take a liquid prenatal and lied it was for him and her, I also got a liquid C, just to make it less pills because he was really resistant to taking all the pills. So that was for first 3 months, then for the past month we switched to

fertilaid+count boost
Larginine
Ubiquonol
Vitamin C 2g
Tribulus

I do believe in fertilaid from other people's experience but I don't think his sperm went from zero to 6% morthology in 4wks from it, the amount of time he was taking it before SA. I did learn sperm takes about 75days to mature from the cellular level so the morphology change was definitely from my first list.

Here's a link to my order list. These are the specific supplements he took.
