With baby #1 he was born with a pretty severe tongue tie. I did not know this until he was about 2.5 months old. He seemed like he was latching ok, but it hurt. I was told that it shouldn't 'hurt' but it would still be really sore because of the sensitivity in the area. I put this pain off as I was being a baby and didn't mention it. Soon he wasn't gaining weight and I was told I needed to supplement and this is when we discovered the tongue tie because he still didn't have a lot of ease drinking from a bottle. It would take him nearly 45 minutes to drink 2 ounces at 2 months. He had the tongue tie clipped at 3 months old and from there he refused to nurse pretty much ever. At this point also, my supply was pretty dried up. I was power pumping, taking supplements and making lactation cookies like there was no tomorrow. None of this worked and we were sadly fully formula feeding by 4 months.
Baby #2 is due in early April and I didn't know if anyone had any successes with bfing baby #2 after not doing so well with baby #1. I am mainly looking for encouragement and advice to help me cope with the doubts I have again this time around.
