Sugar free redbull while pregnant!?!?!???

Caffine increases miscarriage chance.

I'm saving all my daily caffine allowance for chocolate.

I think she needs to see a different doctor, to be frank. Energy drinks are not even proven to be 100% safe for everyday use by the non-pregnant population. Not to be rude, but does she have any idea what some of those ingredients are derived from?

I think your best move, if you want to push the issue, is to do a little research for her. A quick google will tell you that taurine (a popular ingredient) boosts the effectiveness of caffeine. So the can may say 80mg, but...

Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now. Please try to discourage her, but don't ruin a friendship over it.

Good luck, it sounds like you'll need it!

I have also been told that the taurine is not good for baby. And the redbull doesn't do any justice without vodka, so what's the point anyway. I still have 3 cans in the fridge, they have been there for over 8 weeks now:)

just a heads up (for when your not pregnant :winkwink: ) excessive consumption of redbull and vodka can make your liver bleed and if left unnoticed can kill you from internal bleeding.
Taurine has been known to increase the effects of alcohol.

when my sister first started her training as a nurse (before specialising in peadiatric nuerology) she had to do a paper on effects of alcohol on the body and found three men in europe somewhere died when they went on a weekend binge of redbull and vodka. x

As much as I love red bull, its not the caffine in it that gives you all the energy, its the taurine and god knows what else is in it. It might be sugar free, but its not good for her, as taurine isnt really reccomended no matter what.

i haven't heard about anything, but id rather be safe than sorry and stay away.

Thank you all! I ended up doing a lot of research and printing off everything I found and giving it to her.. she hasn't talked to me since, hah, so I have no clue if she's still drinking it or not. If she even read it, I hope she has stopped.. and if she hasn't, maybe I don't want her as a friend anyhow, as it's just making me see how selfish and careless she is!

i have always thought that any energy drink is really bad, think of all the chemicals and junk in that one drink that you are putting not only into your body, but your babys body as well. Yuck! No thanks for me. LoL
