I'm currently claiming income-based JSA.

Eleven weeks before EDD, I will be switched by the DWP onto Maternity Allowance.

According to the Direct.gov website ...

You can get a Sure Start Maternity Grant if you or your partner receive any of the following:

* Income Support
* income-based Jobseeker's Allowance

<snip>

and if one of the following applies to you:

* you or your partner are pregnant and expecting a baby within 11 weeks or have given birth within the last three months

So now I am confused. I will be pregnant and expecting a baby within 11 weeks, but the DWP will have taken me off income-based JSA.

Will I be entitled to this grant or not???????

Id ring the sure start number and ask them as they will be able to tell you.

The criteria on their website is rubbish. I know loads of people who have got it and they don't match any of it. Give them a ring hun :)

Int'resting - thanks!

I probably would have called them anyway, but it doesn't apply for about another 10 weeks, I was just fishing in advance!

you wont get it till baby is born and u recieve ctc :)

i was switched to mat allowance at 29 weeks which then voided my entitlement untill we started recieving ctc

hth xx
