Hi does anyone know the exact requirements for getting this? I can't seem to find it explained simply anywhere, DH works and i get child tax credits for Lottie, about £48 a week, which i think is quite alot. I don't know if the more c/t credits you get then you're more likely to get the surestart grant or the other way round? I'm a bit confussed as to whether to apply! Please help x

https://www.dwp.gov.uk/advisers/claimforms/sf100_print.pdf

The application form says more than £548 a year for a child over 1, or over £1095 for a baby. So you should get it.

do you get wtc? how much is your annual income? xx

If you look on your entitlement letter thing they will have sent you, as long as you are being paid more than the "Family Element" (so are receiving a "Child" or "Disability" etc element) then I think you will get it. This is how I worked it out. Most people will get the family element, if you are living off a relatively low icome you will get more and so will get the grant.

just apply for it. they can only say no. we didnt think we were entitled but applied for it anyway. we got £1,000 (£500 for each baby)

They are complete morons tho i am on the high rate246 a month and they assessed it wrong and said i didnt even receive child tax credits!! Funny that seeing as its been going into my account lol
