How soon after having my baby can i use tampax. I stopped bleeding left with just brown discharge about 2 -3 weeks ago and today 6 week post natal i have started bleeding again, assuming a period as i have had cramps for a week or so..
i had a 3rd degree tear and episotomy and feel well in my self, no pain or discomfort any more.. Can i now use tampax? I hate using pads and they cause my eczema to flair up so i really don't want to continue using them...

I honestly don't know. Have you had your 6week check to see how you're healing? I'd check with your doc or health visitor x

I would wait until at least your 6 week check. Also, with a 3rd degree tear you'll probably have an appointment with a consultant and a physiotherapist to check all is well around 8 weeks post.

My little boy has his 6 week check on Tuesday, only app i have made for me us at 12 week at the hospital. Will they check me at 6 week as well as baby as ive not been given a appointment.

anyone know what the appointment at 12 week at the hosp is about, what they will do etc, it says on the letter 'if u need surgery...' and that app can take 1-2 hours. IM scared there gona put a camera up my bum  and what the hell would i need surgery for??

My six week check was for baby and I was just asked how I was feeling generally etc. I had a 3B tear and at my 12 week appointment they check to see how well you've healed, inside and out (vagina and bum). I also had another appointment where I had to have an ultrasound and stress test done (where they stick an ultrasound probe and a balloon thing up there) to see how well I'd healed so they could make a recommendation for future births. It's an uncomfortable sensation but not horrendous xx

If you feel fine, no signs of infection and it doesn't hurt to use, and you are absolutely certain it really is a period and not your postnatal bleeding, I would say give it a try. Just keep in mind that postnatal bleeding can stop and then come back again, especially if you've been more active and getting back to your usual routine again recently. Sometimes it's the body's way of slowing down. You shouldn't use a tampon for postnatal bleeding, but if you are certain it's your period and it's comfortable, I would try. I had a completely natural birth with only a small 2nd degree tear and a couple stitches and I couldn't have comfortably used a tampon for probably around 4 months after birth (thankfully, period didn't come back for about 5 months until I started on the pill again).
