Hiya

Okay so I was on maternity leave from mid sept last year til mid june this year. For each month til april I was on maternity I got approx 10-15 tax back on my pay slip. Then my first full months work payslip (not inc maternity leave) last month I received £912 after tax & NI (no taxback) but this month I have received £893 (£19 less). I am hoping this doesnt keep dropping each month!!! :nope:

Is there a chance I may be owed some taxback from last year or is it likely I was paid it all in my maternity payslips? How do I find out if I am owed any if possible? I see people on my facebook getting letters from the 'taxman' with cheques for overpaid tax, I never seem to get these. Lol.

Any advice?

xx

if you speak to your payroll department, they should be able to tell you if tax was reduced as you went along in your maternity or whether you need to do a tax return or speak to HMRC

:hugs:

Thanks. We dont have a payroll dept, its just my manager who has quite a lot on her hands atm so may ask hmrc. I just wondered as from the start of the last tax year up til my maternity started in sept i was payin tax and ni as normal then when on maternity barely paid anything but was getting the small amount of tax back. Need to get my p60 is it? Got it here somewhere! Lol. Xx

'usually' who ever does your pay will adjust tax and NI so you are or have been paying the appropriate rate.

If you have your P60, HMRC will be able to give you an idea if you are entitled to a rebate (fingers crossed!!)
