Hi everyone :flower:

I have absolutely no idea about tax codes... But my OHs tax code seems to change every month I'm not sure if this right or not?

Does anyone have any experience? Also does anyone know how they are worked out as I'm really unsure if he's been paying to much or not each month

Thanks in advance :flower:xx

It shouldn't ange every month. Has he recently started a new job as he may have been on emergency tax if so?

No he's worked for them since September 2010... He's starting a new job ebnd of September- beginning of October but he hasn't Handed notice in yet.

This has been going on a whole just wasn't untill I sat with all the wage slips and its going on more often than first thought.

Not sur what's going on  x

Ring the tax office hun - tax codes should only change in april.

Does your OH get benefits with work? Or do anything else which may complicate things? My tax code has changed 3 times since April, but each time they've written to me with an explanation. If he is just on a basic salary without benefits I certainly can't see why it would change, especially if he hasn't had a notification from the tax office. I would call the tax office tomorrow to double check.

No there's no benefits with his job, just normal salary, deffinatly gonna get him to ring them tomorrow... Does it mean he's been underpaying tax? His boss is awful and treats them like crap so it wouldn't surprise me if he's done something dodgy to get out of paying somthing and pocketed money for him self it wouldn't surprise me one bit :(.

Last year he underpayed tax by 80p which has obviously been recovered now.... But his tax codes always changed lasts year Aswell

Have they changed by much? Tax codes usually just indicate your tax free allowance, so just by adding a 0 on the end, gives you the amount you can earn before paying tax - so 447L would mean your OH would get £4470 before paying tax. I would only be concerned about an underpayment or overpayment if the numbers were significantly different. For example if if one is 447L and another is 904L all within the same tax year. The 'normal' tax free allowance is £9440 so I would imagine the number will be 944 given he has standard basic pay with no additional benefits. More info is here https://www.hmrc.gov.uk/payerti/payroll/tax-codes.htm
