I have already given them my figure for this tax year but will also be on mat leave as of 6th feb. I receive smp but my work also pay occupational mat leave. This is paid at 12 weeks at 100% pay and 12 weeks at 50% before going to smp up till week 39. I know they usually take £100 per week off ur salary but how does it work not only with my mat pay going over 2 tax years but I will stil be on a higher pay for 24 weeks still. Should I tell them my new wage for this tax year for a recalculation or leave it as technically it should work out the same? Any advice would be appreciated
Thanksx

Sorry I started replying yesterday and got myself in a confuddle! I would leave this year because as you say it should be about the same. When you get into the new tax year I would give an estimate for next year, it's £100 knocked off a week for SMP not the enhanced bit *i think* so this year should be the same, next year will be £3900 less from what they take off of SMP if SMP kicks in in the new year, and whatever else less for not getting your normal wages.

I would just check with your policy as to when SMP kicks in because usually SMP starts the same time as your half pay, if you were to have 24 weeks of full then half pay and then 39 weeks of SMP that would be more than the year allowance, normally maternity leave is paid for 9 moths despite how good the policy it's that they overlap the SMP with the enhanced pay if that makes sense? And usually the half pay plus SMP can't exceed your normal wages. I love your policy by the way, I have enhanced pay but yours is much nicer lol.

Hope I've understood.

Oh and if you take any unpaid mat leave you have to inform them because you can't get working tax credits while on the unpaid bit, I have to ring up because we get a little bit towards childcare as DS still goes to nursery, but that will stop in the month I am taking unpaid. You would still get the child tax element if eligible.

Oh I will b back before I get unpaid! Lol.. I dunno if I misunderstood u or I didn't put it fully but I will be on 100% pay till week 12 then 13-24 i will receive 50% of my pay and then 25-39 at just smp. I will be getting smp from week one but my work top it up. Week one starts as of 6th feb unless I give birth before. (I am currently on holiday)

Ah sorry no my fault I managed to confuse myself, your policy is similar to mine except I only have 6 weeks full pay then 12 weeks half (so I still want yours lol) so yeah I wouldn't worry about correcting this years income it'll be pretty much the same, obviously you will do this with the renewal and they will just pay you back a bit (I think they only let you correct it when it is over a certain amount). But yeah I would give them an estimate for next year (but not now, wait till April), so that'll be whatever you are physically given, but then multiply the number of weeks after the 6th of April you have left of SMP by £100 and deduct that from the estimate, tell them you have done this, it'll all be stated in your P60 in 2015 when you go to renew. That's what I'd do anyway!

Thanks for that! Tbh I thought u would b able to help :) :flower: x
