Tax credits changes - how long?

Has anyone had to update childcare costs with tax credits? How long did it take for them to come through? I go back on the 3rd, so cant call them till the 27th to update and I have to pay for the childcare on 28h Feb, and without the tax credits I cant, or well I am going to be short as using the calculator I should get £500 more than I do now.

Will they also back date it to the 3rd?

I called them on the day I started working and it was adjusted straight away!
Week after when my payment was due I got in increased amount to cover nursery fee.
I think I called on Thursday and Thursday is my payment day.
