Hello,

I'm currently in the TWW and began to wonder about maternity leave. If I were to be pregnant my due date would be July 1st. I think I have worked out that I would have maternity pay as normal despite the 6 week summer holidays when I would have been off work anyway.

If I were to take the 52 weeks off and then returned at the beginning of June or thereabouts would I get full salary pay for the two pay days in the summer holidays? I would have only been back at work for 6 weeks or so.

Has anyone got any experience of this? Curious....

I returned to work on the last 2 days of summer term. As July wasn't a full working month for me it was less pay however august was full pay. So yes you should be paid in full for July and august if you return in june.

Yes you would. My eldest was born on 20th July so my first 6 weeks of maternity pay was when I would normally have been off anyway. However I returned to work for just the last week in July and then got a 6 weeks paid holiday which was lovely. In other professions people accrue holiday on mat leave which they can take at the end or get paid for so it's only fair that we should be able to do the same as we cannot accrue any of our holiday. Good luck with TTC. Xx

Can anyone tell me what would happen if my edd was in the last week of August and I had to name my first day of maternity leave as say the 25th August. Would I get full pay through the holidays still? Or would it effect that August pay?

You would be paid until your due date as long as baby didn't come early. If baby is early, mat pay would start on the day of birth. X
