So ladies as of now I am facing an induction in 7 days if little missy doesn't decide to come on her own. I am terrified as this is my first, and I hate the thought of being overdue, and being induced.. I really wanted a natural labor. How did all your inductions go? What was the process after check in etc. How long from start to finish did it take for the baby to come? Was it good or bad (please don't worry about scaring me, I already know the increased risks, and just want honest experiences from everyone) how far dilated were you when you went in, etc. Any details you feel are important please share.

I was induced at 38+5. I went in at 7pm but nothing was done until 11 as I was moved straight to labour ward as my BP was so high. I had a pessary put in and was 1cm I started getting pains pretty much straight away at half 6am I was checked and was 3 cm and had my waters broken I had an epidural because it's meant to help bring BP down I was checked at 2pm and I was fully dilated I pushed for one hour 21 minutes and my daughter was born. It wasn't a bad experience there is a few things I would do different this time round but that's just because my blood pressure is different. I was classed as 8 hours established labour which I don't think is bad for first Time xx.

I was induced at 40+13. I went in at 10am, a MW listened to LO and then put a pessary in and had me on the CTG monitor for 30 minutes. Then I was free to potter around with DH for the day, we hung out in the garden and little lounge or in my room (shared with another lady). DH had to leave at 8pm and I had a 2nd pessary inserted and got checked again. Around midnight I went into labour. I had a bath, walked around in my side of the room a bit. Then got checked and after about 45 minute I was moved to L&D. I got gas and air then and DS was born at 6.20am. I had a good labour and birth :). I wasn't dilated at all when I went in for induction, my cervix was hard and closed and unfavourable ( :haha:) but when labour started it was only took about 6 hours and would likely have been shorter but I had to be on my back from 7cm which obviously sowed things down.

With my first I was induced at 39+6. Pessary was put in at about 8pm, they didn't say anything about dilation. Contractions started around midnight, continued overnight and I got no sleep , also husband wasn't aloud to stay as I wasn't aloud on the delivery ward until 3cm dilated so I was on a ward with no one for support and that was horrible !
Husband insisted on coming in at 6am and stayed with me, 3cm dilated at about 11am so moved to delivery suite. Waters broken at about 4/5 in the afternoon and had an epidural at about 6 as I was exhausted and they wanted to start the drip. Actually the contractions were very manageable!
10cm dilated at around midnight /1am then they left it an hour which is normal apparently, eventually needed forceps and an episiotomy to get him out at 4.10 am .
It all sounds bad written down but honestly it was fine, baby came out and was completely fine, not stressed or anything! I was totally fine with it all and all the midwives and Drs were great.
28 hours in total and I think that was the worst bit really as I was totally exhausted by the end of it!

I was induced at 39 weeks, 6 days due to stalled labor. My Doctor wanted to induce me sooner at 38 weeks, 6 days when I went into L&D because my contractions were 2 min apart and I was dilated to 3cm. They had me stay overnight and if labor wouldn't progress on it's own, they wanted to break my water in the morning. Welp, labor didn't progress and I did not want to be induced so I asked to be discharged. At my 39 week checkup, my Doctor offered to induce me again and assured me not to worry as my body is ready for labor so we scheduled it for April 17th.

Delivery day: We went in and settled into our room. Contractions were frequent and I was sitting at 4cm when the nurse started me on pit at 11am. We sat and waited and got bored. At 5pm, the meds started to kick-in. My doctor came in at 6pm to break my water-that felt great! By 7pm, I was pretty uncomfortable and asked for the epi-I couldn't feel my left leg or even my stomach! I got a great nap in and woke around 10pm to start pushing. My daughter was born at 11:53pm. 8.43lbs, 21in.

The thought of being induced and forcing her out frightened me but she was ready! She just needed a little help:)

GOOD LUCK TO YOU! :hugs::hugs::hugs:

I went in and got the meds going around 3pm Saturday. I was 2-3cm and having mild contractions every couple minutes. I got morphine around 7-730 and again around 11-1130 for pain. The second round made me loopy so I didn't request a third. Around 3am the contractions really escalated and I requested an epi. I think I was around 6cm. I slept until around 630-7 when the epi was wearing off. Sadly they couldn't get it going again so everything after 7am I felt. Around 8 they checked me cuz the contractions were stupid painful I was 7am. 2 contractions later I was 10 and with 3 pushes she was out at 817am.

For me, of my 3 labours it was the worst. The contractions are on steroids. And no one ever told me an epidural can stop working!!

I was induced at 41+6. Went in at 8pm. There were 3 others being induced. We waited nearly two hours for beds and then waited hours for the process to start. One woman went into labour and had a baby whilst we waited! Was given pessary around 2am. Already contacting mildly bit not painful.
Next day I walked around all day to try and get things going more. Occasionally going back to my bed for checks but largely walking round the Park behind the hospital. I was contracting regularly but not that painful. 24 hours after pessary was given my cervix was still closed. Given gel, then another lot of gel 6 hours later. By then I was contacting every 2 minutes and getting more painful but no progress. They suggested a c section but I declined. 10pm on my 3rd day my contractioms were really ramping up and I was finally 1cm. They told me they would take me down to delivery in 15 mins and took my gas and air. Half hour later I sent my hubs to get my gas back. 3 hours later I was taken to delivery. Still 1cm. Broke my ways and there was meconium so I was on continous monitoring thereafter. Contractions were back to back now with little or no break. I had pethidine. After 6 hours of back to back contractions I was still 1 cm so they started the drip and I had an epidural which worked on one side but not the other. I was on the drip for 9 hours I think. I got to 3cm then stalled again. I had a temperature and raised crp levels and c section was suggested again. I consented.
Taken to theatre and given a spinal that didn't work then givrn GA. Baby was born at 42+2 after 3 days of induced labour.

1st induced at 38 weeks drip epi 12 hours
2nd induced 42 weeks pessary waters broken no need for drip 4hours
3rd induced 42 weeks pessary second lot gel and then natural 2-3hours
4th natural
5th induced pessary waters broken refused drip 5 hours back to back labour
6th induced 38 weeks iugr pessary waters broken drip 2 hours

so not 2 bad really a lot of waiting around in hospital for a day or so before they started due to emergency's coming in ect and they usually leave the pessary in for a day then sometimes another is given before you go up to delivery suite my labor times are active labor ;)

My water broke the night when i was 39w2d, so I had to go to the hospital to be induced. I had just seen my doctor the day before and I wasn't dilated or effaced at all. I got to the hospital around 9pm. They put cervadil in me to help dilate me. Soon after that, it must have kick started my contractions, because I started to get very very painful contractions, I couldn't sleep at all. The nurses tried giving me morphine which did nothing for the pain but just made me feel tired. They would not give me the epi until I was at least 4cm. Finally at around 430am they moved me to a L&D room and gave me the epi, it was the greatest thing ever. I finally was able to get some sleep. In the morning I felt a lot of pressure down below, the doctor came in at about 9am and said I was fully dilated and ready to push. I pushed for about 45 minutes and DS was born right before 10am. My doctor did give me an episiotomy though I guess to make things easier. All in all I would say it was about 12 hours from start to finish.

Induced with both my boys and they both followed the same pattern in terms of effectiveness I had the 24 hour pessary inserted in the morning and by the evening contractions had started. The next morning went to labour ward to have my waters broken and my boys were born soon after. They felt no different to when I laboured naturally with my girls. The only difference being that my labours were much faster once my waters were broken. x

Started induction on a Thursday, had propess pessary, it did nothing, second pessary 24 hours later, contracted for 21 hiurs, irregular but painful, no change in cervix though, third pessary fell out and I refused any more pessaries, in my mind they were doing nothing, dr suggested a section which I was fine with at this point, three days in, consultant refused, wanted to try pessary again wouldn't even consider the gel! Instead she managed to break my waters even though I was less than 1cm and cervix was still 2cm long, drip started four hours later and started contracting immediately, after a couple of hours contractions were regular and by 9 ish I was ready fir has and air, vaginal exam showed I was still only 1cm and no change in cervix length, babies heart rate was speeding up to 200 or down to 90 (sometimes 80) with every contraction. By 11:10 I was being run down corridor to theatre fir emergency section, instead if wiping me down with the iodine solution nicely they poured a pot if it over me and just wiped it around, anaesthetist was amazing got spinal done really quick and baby was born 11:30 pm four days after starting induction!

Prepare for it to be a long process if the cervix is unfavourable, wish if known exactly how long it could take.

Also no matter how bad it is at the end if it all you will have your baby and that's the most important thing, my induction was easily the worst thing I've ever experienced but my son makes up for it all and millions more and the pain and memory fades quickly my son is only 11 days old and I'd be willing to go through it again, I already can't wait for number two!
