I have been looking into hiring a TENS machine for my labour. As im having a homebirth I was thinking every little helps.
Has anyone used one and would you recommend a certain one?
Looking into things like this early as im trying to be organised

Thanks

I had a mamatens one I rented, had lots of settings and boost, unfortunately I dont think it did much at all for me.. The general feedback seems to be it works for some, for others not. Worth a go tho if you can afford and want to avoid stronger stuff. It was a good distraction at first! x

I found having it to focus on was great, it may have been a placebo effect but an effect is still an effect right? Mine got me to 5cms dilated at home at which point the MW packed me off to hospital. I only took it off to get into the birthing pool when I got there, so wore it 3 hours through a 6 hour labour.

i used the elle tens, the boost button was great and i found myself not turning it off after contractions as it was relaxing.

i cant say it took the pain away but its the only thing i used during my whole labour so it wasnt too bad lol

I rented one and would again. It was distracting and counteracted some of the discomfort.

I used the mama tens. It was great until I got about 5cm dilated, then I couldn't remove it fast enough! Still, it was the distraction I needed until I had gas and air.

I borrowed an Obi Tens from a friend. It worked like magic for me. I used it all the way until I got into the pool at home and gave birth 20 mins later!! :happydance: The key is to put it on earlier rather than later. x
