Terrified of scan Update page 2 !

Hi ladies I have my first scan on Wednesday morning.

It has now started to dawn on me its going to happen I will be 5+6 on scan day should I expect to see a HB?

After 7 losses the most I have ever seen is a yolk with number one?

What do you think I should expect to see at this stage?

Any info may keep me calm.

hey hun, firstly I am hoping and praying this is the one. you've been through enough! will be sending lots of positive vibes, hugs and love on wednesday.

The earliest I ever saw a heart beat was 5 weeks 3days, so it is definately possible that you will see a tiny flicker.On that occasion the sonographer said its not usually picked up that early so was lucky to have seen it. With my current pregnancy I had a scan at 6 weeks and there was a definate heartbeat. But saying that its also completely normal to not see one that early and Ive read so many accounts of women not seeing a heartbeat, then a week later..there it is! depends on so may things, for example your dates may be a little bit out so you'll have to wait a bit longer. I REALLY hope you come out of that scan room smiling. I know a little of how you feel after 2 mc, and its a very anxious time, keep positive this is a new pregnancy, and a new chapter.

My local EPU won't scan before 7 weeks as the scans cause much more worry than they solve prior to that. You should expect to see a sac but don't expect to see much more than that. Hopefully there will be a heartbeat, but they say that it is generally seen at about 6 weeks plus. Don't panic if there isn't one, just make sure that they have you back in a couple of weeks to double check!

I wouldn't necessarily expect a hb at this stage - yes it is possible but a majority of folk probably wouldn't - I would expect a sac and a call back for a week or so's time.

I saw a hb with an external scan at 6+5 - they didn't do an internal once they saw that so all I saw was a flicker but that was enough.

I think every scan will fill you with dread after 7 losses - even your 12 and 20 week ones

my epu said that they wouldn't scan before 8 weeks as it can be inconclusive and cause undue stress so don't worry if its not there yet.

Hey chick yup going back next Wednesday at 8am to have it.

THe professor was really pleased and said everything look perfect!

They have put in my notes i am 5+4 so put me back two days.

That's great news. The fetus has to be so big to be able to pick up a heartbeat. I've completely forgot how big now but I'm sure some one here knows
