Hey
I have pcos and endo and haven't had a natural AF since coming off the pill in April 09. Provera isn't working anymore and I have no idea if/when I ovulate.
I wondered if anyone else had pre-existing issues like mine before being referred to FS and what tests you had? My GP mentioned lap and dye, but I'm not sure if this would be through FS or he'd request it.
I'm getting pretty desperate now, just feel so incredibly sad. Any advice greatly received xxx

if you are in the UK, you are usually referred to a fertility specialist after 12m TTC.

You (and your OH) will go through a whole load of tests, which may include lap and dye if the FS thinks you need it. (requested by FS not GP)

Usually tests are day 1 bloods (FSH) day 21ish (prog for ovulation) hormonal levels for PCOS, HCG, US scan, and husband's semen analysis

I'd go to a GP you trust, have a good chat and ask for a referral.

good luck
xxx

Have you had endo diagnosed by lap yet? We were referred to FS a lot sooner after my diagnosis. Your GP should be referring you especially as you're not oving.
Your GP can also start basic bloods, full blood count, thyroid, FSH, LH, etc.
Good luck!

Sorry I wasn't very clear in my original post. What I wanted to know is has anyone been sent for a lap and dye/given clomid by GP without being sent to FS? Has pre-existing problems been enough for GP to act? Sorry to sound thick!
Endo was found and lasered off 3 years ago and pcos diagonosed 4 years ago. I also have an underactive thyroid that is controlled with medication.

You would need to see a gynae to make the decision to get a lap and dye. I would think given your endo diagnosis they would be happy enough to send you to a gynae, maybe not a FS if you've not been trying long, but the gynae might then send you to FS, my last one did, although it was seeing her in fertility clinic rather than gynae clinic! Have you asked your GP for a referral?

We've been ttc for 18 months but I'm afraid to go to FS as they'll target my weight straight away.
I'm due to go back to GP as I need to discuss my last internal/external ultrasound as provera failed to induce AF. I haven't had any sort of bleed since July so as you can imagine the fear of endo returning is high.

I know what you mean about weight, I've got a fair amount to lose, although FS didn't mention it. You really need to see someone more specialised than GP, even if it's more to deal with your cycle. It's scary but it's better to know exactly what you are dealing with than go on without any certainty. My thoughts are with you.

Thanks Fifi think I'm just dreading any kind of intervention and desperately sad at the thought of it.

:hugs:
Just think of the possible outcome... coming home with your little bundle of joy.

I know, just got to be brave! Husband has an appointment to check his...ahem...boys, so all I have to do is make an appointment to see mine.
Wish me luck x
