The BIGGEST pro of breastfeeding!

I think theres quite a lot of debate over whether soy formula is the best thing to use for baby...
Here's a link https://www.babycenter.com.sg/baby/formula/soyaexpert However,I guess with everything, you just have to make an educated choice.
Hopefully you'll be able to BF anyway so it won't matter!

thanks i haven't looked into it alot, but its something i'm getting very into.
i have also heard i shouldn't have soya in my diet when breastfeeding...which would make my life a nightmare! :dohh:
preferably i would exlusively breastfeed until toddlerhood when they can drink soya milk without issues.
suppose i'll have to keep researching and see! xxx

Definitely! Its a lot of work--I'm raising a veggie toddler and thats hard enough trying to figure out where all her nutrients are coming from all the time. Its a lot more work than being a veggie/vegan adult.
Sorry,I think I'm coming across as being a bit patronising which really is not my intention.Thats not my style at all. Just trying to let you know raising veggie kids really can be a challenge so I expect vegan will be even harder. But I know, for me,being veggie is a million percent worth it and not something I would ever change
If theres ever anything to do with it all I could help you with just give me a yell x

no i don't find you patronising! :D
i think having a vegan child is going to be a right struggle! well it doesn't have to be i suppose, but to make the child feel like its not missing out, and can do/eat similar things to friends i think thats going to be the hardest part.
plus i didn't get into veganism for the health benefits, purely because of the animal issues, so im not completely clued up on nutrition. all i know is vegans can be as healthy as veggies/others as long as thought is put into it.
so if i'm honest i'm shit scared about raising a vegan child
but sure i'll manage!

Are you going to let your child eat meat when they're older if they want to? - NOT starting an argument, just interested. Alot of people in my family are veggie and there's always been a big debate on the matter.

not until they can make an informed choice on the matter. not in my house and i wont buy it.
i'd say an informed choice could be made around the teen age, so from that point on, if they were out with someone and someone offered to buy them it/ate with friends. then i wouldn't object, wont lie, i'd be sad, but if they can awknowledge what they are doing and the impact it has then fair do's. xxxxx

We have friends who are vegetarian and they have brought their children up vegetarian. They kiddies are 14, 10, and 7. I asked her the same question as i want to ask you, don't you think you are forcing your way of them on them without their choice? I am genuinely curious and not trying to argue whatsoever. By they way, i'm not fussed in eating meat at all, and if i don't have to eat it i won't. My partner however LOVES meat and we have been debating whether Leni will be a vegetarian or not. I initially wanted him to eat it, but i'm having doubts. Just wanted your opinion xx

well when children are children, however anyone decides to raise their children, its always forced. i mean when a baby is born it cant say ''hey i want formula not breast milk'' so formula would be forced. thats a shit example really...
but i could say, why you choosing to feed your child meat? isn't that forcing meat on a child? it might want to be vegan when older?

Aww bless ya hun, glad you managed to get it in the end. Did they give reasons why they wouldnt except the vouchers. Im hoping to BF, but i know my mum tried to BF me and i wasnt having it. Hoping if i have straight skin to skin contact after birth and try as soon as im allowed my LO will take

They wouldn't accept them because some places just won't take them at all. I think it's too much hassle for them to send them off and I think they have to claim the cash. I can understand why they wouldn't take them, but the shops that WOULD take them were all out of stock. Any one would think my area was populated by babies that all drink stage 2; They had loads of stage 1.

I can't wait to wean him! I know he will still be having formula but it won't be quite so much. (and before any one jumps to conclusions about me being desperate to wean him now, I'm not as I'm BLW so it won't be until he's more than ready.)

Yes maybe there was a baby boom in your area so all the babys are around the same stage lol. Hopefully you dont ahve the same problem again

did you know that some how (don't ask me how though :S) breast feeding is conected to your stomach muscles and so you can get your stomach back quicker :) hope that helps x

Breastfeeding releases oxytocin (a hormone) which encourages unterine contractions, similar to when your in labour but obviously not as painful lol.
It helps your uterus contract back to its normal size which obviously shrinks your tummy xxx

I'm finding the debate about veganism (i hope that's a real word) really interesting. I think the hardest part will be when they're at an age for going to school, because unless you make a packed lunch every day, school meals aren't easily catered for vegans. It's a shame really for those who are.

Also sweets... I used to be vegetarian, and a lot of sweets contain gelatin etc. I think it'll be tough to educate a young child on which sweets they can and can't eat when all their friends are having them etc.

no not tough cos 99% of the sweets in 'normal' shops are not vegan friendly so obviously they will learn thats not where they get their sweets from.

i was 14 when i went vegan, and it was my own decision, and at the time none of my family or friends where even vegetarian nor vegan, so i had to figure it all out on my own, and i did just fine. i managed to educate alot of people and my mum, sister, brother, auntie, all went vegan, and my gran went vegetarian when they had someone that would tell them where to get their food and how to live life as a vegan so to speak. all completely by choice. so obviously when i have my child i will teach about ingreedients, i will tell from an early age what each ingreedient is and where it comes from. so by the time they are going out and buying it themselves they know what they are looking for.

just like muslim children are taught which foods are halal, which sweets they cant eat etc etc.

plus with thought put into it, a vegan childs packed lunch can look just as exciting and taste just as good as any other childs.
vegans can get 'saussage rolls' 'meat slices' 'cheese' 'scotch eggs' they can eat crisps, sweets, chocolate and cakes.
all of witch look like the real thing, most of the time taste like the real thing, and are probably alot more healthy. yet contain not a single ingreedient from animals.

vegans can live normal lives too, we dont just chew on carrots. :flower:

breastfeeding is ACE for getting your figure back. my tummy went down after THREE days. Also when baby isnt well they will almost always breastfeed as its a source of comfort so if they have a tummy bug at least you know they are getting good stuff. Breastfeeding will not make your breast sag (poor care in pregnancy does that) Breastfeeding saves time and money. it can be really really hard at first (i really did struggle at first) but with support and determination it gets effortless. It is time consuming when baby has growth spurt but its not forever. its such a short time in babies life :-)
AND you dont have to worry if you are veggie about milk companies changing their recipes without warning.

Yeah I'm definitely going to breast feed... although i might just do the pumping thing because I'm going to start my class right after the baby is born

That's really sensible. :)
