Hi ladies how do you know when its time to stop?
Weve been doing really good my supply has dropped over the past week and Im getting really anxious about it?

How do you know when its time to say goodbye to BF???

LO will tell you what they need hun r u supplementing at all or weaning?

Are you trying to wean him off BFing? There's a growth spurt around 6 months so he may be being fussy and wanting to nurse more frequently. Ronan went through a weird nursing period for the past 4-5 weeks or so and is only now starting to settle back down. If you're not ready to stop, just keep feeding your LO on demand and hopefully it will settle in a week or two!

this is probably extremely personal, but have you had your period since giving birth? I had my first around 5 months and my supply dropped drastically about a week before hand and then picked back up after it started.

It is frighteningly easy to find that weaning happens without planning to, especially during the first year. Ideally breastmilk would be the baby's prime source of nutrition througout the first year, and if not, they need formula.

But it is so easy to find that milk supply drops. If mum encourages baby to night wean, if mum keeps baby seperate from her, if mum asks baby to wait for feeds, if mum schedules feeds, if mum doesn't offer regularly......

This can all be reversed! It is easy to up milk supply, but it takes a pro-active effort, sometimes. Skin to skin, keeping baby close, offering regularly, being alert to baby's cues are really effective ways of upping milk; but some mums feel uncomfortable doing this and prefer to switch to formula.

No were not trying to wean or supplement, my supply has just dropped about 5 oz of expressed milk a day or 1 feeding

to increase supply hun you are going to have to increase demand

Then maybe is a growth spurt, I know were going to the Dr today for a check up and hopefully shes on track
But I will keep the feeding on demand
