The OPK Thread ---> One BFP already! x

Hi ladies, hope all is well. It's cd 14 for me today, OH and I are BD ing every other day at the moment :) and my opk is slightly darker than yesterday. Can I ask a silly Question?

Because it is slightly darker, does this mean I am coming up to a surge? Does it take a couple of days to become positive, or go from quite faint to def positive overnight?
Sorry if it's a silly question :dohh:

I hope your having a lovely time in South America Seaweed :flow:
And good luck at your appointment Nik, hopefully everything goes well, and you get the all clear with everything :flow:

Both of your charts are looking promising! FX'd for you ladies!! xx

Hi Haylee, To be honest from what I have read on here everyone is different. I went through the month going from nothing to light to darker to lighter again and then it started going visibly darker until I got my positive. I would say though that if is going darker keep a close eye over the next few days because this could be the start of your surge fx and lots of :dust:xxxxx

Haylee- I agree with laurs. Mine was slightly lighter than the control and then the next evening, it was a positive. I tested in the afternoon and it still wan't positive, tested again at Seaweed's recommendation on the same day at night and it was positive. So yes, TYPICALLY, it means you are about to surge, however there are numerous factors that might prevent you from surging right now, and you could O later. :flower:

Seaweed- That would be great customer service if they were able to get you a FRER at the hotel! I hope you're having a great time- what an incredible opportunity to travel to South Africa!

So I had to share DH's comment as we were leaving the store last night. We were returning some Christmas items and I picked up some FRER. It ended up that those were the only things purchased. As we were walking out, DH handed me the receipt and said " Keep this, if the tests don't give you the answer we want, return them." I about died laughing.:haha:

Off to my appointment- have a lovely day ladies and I'll let you know how things go when I return.:hugs:

So doctor said there is no cause for concern with my fertility with the medication, however she was really concerned about DH's because he has an auto-immune disease. he has an appt. on 1/13 by a specialist who might provide more answers.

In doing research on the type of auto-immune he has and the medication he is on, he may have oligozoospermia, which is a low sperm count. I am feeling really deflated right now. I know that we haven't been trying that long, and there is no need to worry about it now, but it's still upsetting that DH might not produce enough :spermy: Sorry for venting, am just upset and don't want to upset DH anymore than he might already be.

:hugs: :hugs: Oh Nik...I really hope this is your month, but if not, I feel like I have read lots of success stories on BNB involving low sperm count. Don't lose hope, I'm sure your BFP is coming soon!

Haylee, I had 4 days of negatives before my positive OPKs, and the last three of those four got steadily darker. The first two were quite faint, then there was definitely a noticeable line, then it was almost positive before becoming positive. My impression is that that is a pretty normal pattern to have (though as laurs said I am sure everyone is different).

So...I'm not proud of this...but I think I'm going to test on the 1st. I have talked myself into believing that I'm experiencing real symptoms. I was so determined not to symptom spot! :growlmad: I'm not going to dignify my crazy thoughts by going into detail, but maybe I'll get lucky and happen to be right and I will in fact get a BFP on New Year's!

I'm having a great time here except for the fact that I can't seem to keep anything down! I really mean that though, aside from my stomach rejecting all food I feel totally normal and am able to enjoy myself (which is partly why I'm convinced it's a symptom not a stomach bug)...it's definitely nice to have a distraction from thinking about the TWW all the time.

Thanks seaweed! I think I am going to have DH request a SA at his doctor's appointment and possibly "fib" that we have been TTC longer if they question the need for it. I don't see the point of TTC for over a year before doing a SA, considering the medications and disease he has. My thought in requesting the SA now would be so save the heartache of going through an entire year of TTC just to find out he has low sperm count. Might as well start working on fixing the problem now!

LOL! I knew one of us would breakdown before the 3rd ;) I guess I technically cheated in testing early too because of my doctor's appointment (negative, which I had expected because it's still too early.)FX'd that you get your BFP- your symptoms sound promising!! Are you going to tell DH before his b-day or wait?

As far as symptoms, I really haven't had much. I have been having cramps since before I O'd and have been feeling slightly gassy today. I can't tell if bbs are sore from my workout or if its a symptom:haha:

That seems extremely reasonable to me. Especially since you are already so TTC-savvy. A year would be an incredibly long time to try when you know you have the timing basically right.

Aaahhh, so not proud to be the one breaking down! :shy: if I do get a positive, I am pretty sure I will tell him the same day (maybe after doing a second test). Just can't imagine keeping it to myself!

Well, fingers crossed that you ARE pregnant and this means you're in for a nice comfortable first trimester! :D

Hey ladies, thanks for your input. I woke up this morning and I've had a temp drop so I am hoping today when I do my opk it will be darker again. I've been testing at 2pm and 8pm each day and i think it might not be worth testing at night as both nights I've tested it has been lighter than my daytime opk.

I think a little white lie won't hurt, and since you already know there may be a possibility for LSC, I don't see why they should make you wait 12 months, and yes, I too have read alot of success stories on BnB too :hugs: in the end it only takes 1 :spermy: xxx

This is quite bizarre isn't it, so you feel 100% but you just can't keep any food down? I'd be crumbling and testing too chick, that's a symptom you can't deny :hugs: ONLY TWO MORE DAYS!!

:dust:Hi All

Had my OPK's in the post this morning. 7months ttc aged 25. I think i might start charting this month....pls can someone help me.... i got my AF yesterday (however did have brown discharge from Friday), cycles have been around 29-32 days.
When should I start using my OPK's? Should we start BD'ing when I get a positive result or before?

Thanks :)

:dust: for you all

Hi Tally
Welcome :flow:
The way I work these things out is
On average we Ovulate around 14 days BEFORE our next period. So you may ovulate anywhere from cycle day 14 - 17, or even later or earlier than this, depending on your Luteal Phase. So to be safe I would start testing around CD 11 and 12. But don't take this as a definite lol.

Fertility Friend is a great program and the more info you give to FF, the better. It can predict your "fertile" period. I suggest :sex: every other day from CD 12 to 18 :hugs: Goodluck xx

I say sign up, it's great! :)

:hugs: Thanks. Three more, though, right? Still!

Also, I can definitely see the difference between the two OPKs. Interesting.

Tally- I started temping at CD12 and got my positive on CD21. I would BD every other day until your OPKs start getting darker, then I would BD everyday until 1-2 days after you O.

Seaweed- 3 more for us, Haylee is a day ahead. ;) I think I would definitely break down and tell DH right away if it was positive. Especially this cycle since our anniversary is in 10 days. He would know that something was up if I tried to hide it from him.:haha:

Seaweed- did you guys stick to the tradition/modern 1st year anniversary gifts (paper or a clock)? I am struggling with gift ideas for DH.:dohh:

Haylee- It looks like your night OPK was lighter than your morning. How long did you hold your pee for the 8pm test?

I think making us wait a year to TTC, knowing that DH likely has a LSC before a SA, would be a form of torture. :growlmad:

DH came home from work and we talked about it. He agrees that getting a SA is the best thing to do and is on board with our white lie to his doctor. He is also going to see if he can get on different medication that may not have infertility side-effects, although a lot of the research we are doing says there aren't many options and some of the other drugs are worse than this one!

Nik, we're not really traditional gift-givers...this time around we just got each other cards and went on a nice date. I'll get him something nice for his birthday this month. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

Wishing you guys the best with the SA etc. :hugs:

And, Tally, I agree with every other day BD until pos OPK then 2-3 in a row...we went with almost every day I had fertile CM this month and I think in future months (if necessary) we won't do quite that much :p

That happened to me too Haley. I noticed that my line was darker than the day before but not as dark as the control line. I'm not sure if you're doing this or not, but I've been using the OPK twice a day. In the morning and at night. That way if I have a surge that happens within the 12 hours it can be detected. I saw to do that in some of my research. I haven't gotten a positive yet using the OPK but I've been having a lot of sex since my last menstrual cycle so hopefully this is our month. I'm praying that it is ; ) Keep me posted on how things work out your way. I know using the OPK is new for you too.

Hey Ladies :flow: I just done another opk and it is nearly as dark as the control line!

15.jpg

I think it will be happening in the next couple of days for sure!

Nik - I held for atleast 4-5 hours before I done the 8pm one, about the same amount of time for the 2pm one too. I might take one tonight to see if its lighter again :hugs:

Hi Swtshae - I've been testing twice a day around 2pm and 8pm. I didn't think you could use morning urine :dohh: :hugs:

Seaweed - I'm not completely sure about our time differences but right now as I type its 15.48, December 30th :hugs: :haha:

laurs - BTW, I didn't see your post before, thanks chicky :hugs:

xx

Ah right, forgot about your location. Well now it's the 30th here too! :D

2more days :haha: :haha:
It really would be a great way to start the new year xx

Ok, I have a POAS confession: I tested this morning! It was negative of course, but I basically knew it would be. Still hoping for a BFP this cycle, especially every time I feel that little cramp!

Your chart looks good Haylee, hope that positive OPK is coming up in the next couple of days! :dust:
