The stupid things people say to pregnant women! Share your gems!

That's a good way of thinking shambaby, it's only a job at the end of the day, look after yourself and baby!
Yeah towards when I was finishing my workmates were actually understanding, and my boss too, she actually encouraged me to finish at 32 weeks instead of 34 weeks. I think at work they could see how much of a struggle it was for me, but it was other people like family and friends saying I was going early. They probably didn't understand what my job involves and often just thought about their own experiences, forgetting every woman and pregnancy is different.
Whereabouts in the world are you? In the UK you can go on maternity leave from 29 weeks so you shouldn't need signing off by the doctor?

Husband was ginger when he was younger he out grew it but if he grows a beard its a dark red so i've had "aww well if you keep shaving the babies head it'll be a "normal" colour before it goes to school" and at the pharmacy in Sainsburys (i posted this before) I went to see what they could recommend for killer indegestion at x-many weeks pregnant the lass serving asked the pharmacist who bobbed his head round the corner and not as discreetly as he'd hoped said i should probably stop eating

Oh my goodness! That's terrible that someone actually suggested you shave your babies head to get rid of ginger!! Red hair runs in my family and I am having a little girl!i think some of the most strikingly beautiful girls have red hair! And men for that matter! People are so rude!

The strangest comment I had was when I had announced that I was pregnant to my work colleagues. Someone actually said to me he had thought I must be pregnant as I smelt different?! apparently his wife's scent changed when she was pregnant with their son and he now notices the changes in other pregnant women. wtf??!

That is the weirdest creepiest thing I've ever heard! Eww what a nut job! It's like something a serial killer would say! Lol ;)

One thing I find funny is the few comments people have posted that others have said about having a "ginger" baby - and that being a bad thing. Is it really considered so bad to have red hair in the UK? I personally hope my baby has red hair as I LOVE it! My grandfather and my husband's grandfather both had red hair and we are keeping our fingers crossed that those genes will be passed on to our little one!

I guess some idiots think red hair is unattractive In the uk. It can also lead to school yard bullying which is a worry! But I love red hair too!

Thank you, yes I'm in the UK, but will be better for me to get signed off, as then I won't have to start my mat leave early and therefore have to in back to work early. They can't make me take mat leave until 36 weeks, when I was planning to finish anyway, and I get full pay when off sick.

Ah right that makes sense now, I would do that too if I were you then. Sadly my workplace only do everything to government minimum so if I were to have got signed off I would have only got statutory sick pay (definately not enough to live off!). Sounds like your company is at least good with sick pay lol!!

My husbands boss: 'wow you don't even look pregnant, just fat' .... er.. thanks :D :haha:

Midwife last time: 'you are not in labour yet, it will just be the pessary dilating your cervix'
The look on her face was priceless when I walked past her with my baby about 4 hours later :haha:

- oh, when are you due?
- 2 weeks? oh, well, enjoy this while you can!

:dohh:

i fail to see what's so enjoyable about going over.

"Looks like 'X's' baby is overdue now, so your right maybe yours will be as well" - yeah because my unborn baby succumbs to peer pressure even in the womb! :dohh:

I had a lady ask me if mine was a girl or boy- I said 'apparently a girl on the ultrasound'. This woman then said.....

....' Oh, at least you've seen its actually a baby! A friend of mine had a belly like yours and it turned out to be a massive tumour!'

I honestly had no retort for that!

Lol , please slap your DH from me :haha: Men say the most ridiculous things.

Stupid midwife...:dohh:

A frienemy (she an old friend of my bff, we don't like each other) told me the other day that the reason my husband made me pregnant is that he cheats on me...:growlmad:
I didn't even reply to this... envy much bitch?

wow. just wow. surely if your having a baby together he would be planning a future with you.. not some other woman. people are crazy!

I had the was it planned question from lots of people - mostly people I don't even know that well!! How rude! I loved telling them it was, some of them looked very confused.

Also comments like 'told you to stop eating all those pies' on my Facebook pictures - ARGH they are the worst! And it's always the same person, don't they get the hint after I've ignored every single comment?

My friends boyfriend wrote 'fat bitch' on one of my photos logged in to her Facebook account - then she deleted it and tried to blame it on her housemates. Hilarious!!

I also hate comments about how awful labour is and how I will never be happy again. I'm having a baby, what could possibly make me happier?! I'm not expecting 12 hour sleeps or a perfect baby, I know what it's going to be like, but why do people feel the need to tell you horror stories about how hard it is being a parent?!

I don't get the horror stories! Our little boy is fairly laid back, he has his moments when he's a little monster but then every kid does but I like to think that he is the way he is due to his nature and the fact that we work damn hard at trying to be good parents and set the good examples, boundaries, etc

All we got now is, 'oh your second will be a nightmare, you can't be that lucky twice, just wait this one will run rings round you, blah, blah, blah'.

I've no idea what the personality of my little girl will be, and maybe she won't be as laid back as my son but don't assume because we've got one kid that is reasonably well behaved, no2 is going to be a devil child!!!

She is a bitter bitch with lousy taste in men, she is attracted to serial cheaters, but that is no one's fault but hers. She is projecting her problems to others. Her logic for what she said was: he wants you to be occupied with pregnancy and baby while he screws around...
Hhmmm I think not, we are together for 12 years, and he spends his every minute when he is not working with me :cloud9: When at work he calls like 6 times a day to tell me he loves me.

same night she said to my DH that one person getting fat in the family is enough (meaning me) no need to stuff himself (we were at dinner).

She is plain hateful, can't stand happy people.

sounds like a girl who used to be my best friend.. what a joke that was. we had been together for over a year, and her words were 'that he will just be like the rest, talking to other women and cheating before you know it and you'll be stuck with him because you've got a kid'. she also said that we wouldn't last long and we will end up not standing eachother.

fast forward to now and were still together, have been for two years. were engaged, his family love me and he is always with me every day. he's my best friend and I couldn't be happier. whereas she is with someone who she has admitted talks to other girls, and every relationship shes been in shes slept with them after a week or less of knowing them, wonders why the conversation runs dry and they end up just sitting in silence because she doesnt get to know them first. and then wonders why they go off with other people.

its sad that people are so nasty just because you're happy.

as for the eating comment, my OH has had that one too. im constantly getting told that 'im wobbling' and that OH is starting to get fat too. - this coming from my OH's very overweight brother and step-dad. :dohh:

these people are rude!!

fides, any signs of baby yet? how come you aren't being induced with being so far over? just curious with the differences between countries

I had a "friend" tell me yesterday that my baby is probably going to be ******** because I was a smoker when I first got pregnant!
