oooh someone else has said the 6th.. i put the 5th on the sweepstake... i was allowed to join :haha: even though i have insider info hehe :)

I can't keep up with y'all! For loners, y'all sure do know how to chat! lol :haha:

Gemma stop knocking yourself woman! i use jars most of the time, its a bloody miracle if i cook haha! us mums are busy enough!

Suzanne - i think Finn eats too much too, but in food rather than milk, he will eat a full jar at both meal times and also eat a full pot of fruit, lil fatty he is! look, this is him chillin out before bed, what a belly! :D

excuse the marks on his legs, dont even know how he got them, took him out of the pram and they were there :|

I'm gonna have dominos tonight! im starving and i weighed in this morning so its my cheat day hheheh

Weaning is fun lol!! I cant wait till he can eat more :haha:

we're all washed fed and waiting to go to bed here lol!! how sad are we!! Oliver goes down at 9 and then we go to bed about 10-10.30 as any later and i cant function!!

How is everyone?

Im hungry still and we can't agree on what to have :(
OH want's a pizza from asda, but i'v gone off them and I defo don't fancy one of there chinese thing's.
So i'm sat here bored and hungry..

yeah i was thinking when oliver got a bit bigger i will hand him them as a treat to chew on. as you said he will throw it away when he doesnt want it.

Im confused how to do it tho, because my doctor said to give him the food like 1 hour to 1.5 hours before his milk. As he wont take it before or after as before he will fuss because he is in his "milk postion" :haha: and afterwards he normally wants to start playing again straight away.

i struggled with that, cos he would eat his rice or veggies etc then would refuse his bottle, in the end i gave up, he now does

7am - Milk 6oz
10.30 - porridge
1.30 - lunch
3pm - Milk 6oz
5.30pm - Dinner
6.30-7 bedtime bottle 6oz

so he hardly has any milk

i used to make a bottle with every dinner and i was wasting sooo much!

He will let ya know how he wants it, just feed him his purees and give him his milk on demand xx

Can I ask how much milk Finn used to take before you started weaning? I posted in the weaning sction a few days ago cos Finn has dropped a bottle since we started, and I wondered if it was ok. He used to have 6 x 7oz a day and now hes taking 5 x 7oz a day plus porridge in morning and puree for dinner. They said in the weaning section that they shouldnt be dropping any milk before 6 months, but surely if you're giving them other foods, they will be less hungry for the milk?

Finns feeding kinda goes like this..

7am - 7oz milk
8.30 - porridge
10 - 7 oz milk
1 - 7oz milk
4 - 7oz milk
5 - veg purees
6.30 - bedtime bottle 7oz

does this sound ok?? Where hes going 3 hours between feeds now, he was only going 2.5 hours before, meaning one of his feeds has been dropped

x

Oliver dropped down to 5 7oz bottles at about 2/3 months... he is still gaining tho x

Thats what they convinced me of, it was impossible they made me paranoid about it actually and i was trying to force it down the poor kids throat (does he really look malnourished?!lmao) hes dropped 4 bottles now, used to have 6oz bottles at 7am 10am 12pm 2pm 4pm 5pm 6.30pm, my doc said what he has now is spot on :)

I think that sounds good Kayleigh, and he'll probably drop two bottles when youve added lunch in there...

I cant feed Finn so soon after his first bottle, he can go a good 4 or 5 hours til he wants anything else after hes had that first one, sometimes we miss brekkie altogether as he'll have his morning nap before wanting fed and he wakes up at 12 ish!

When do you think I should add lunch in then? Im so clueless about all of this  My HV came round to have a "weaning chat" a few weeks a go and literally all she told me was.... er yeah he's hungry, just feed him rice and purees till 6 months :nope: how helpful of her!!

mine said the same kayleigh i went to the doctor and asked advise.

Answer my thread in GS please  x

im so lost, im so glad im not weaning yet. :|

milk alone confuses me enough. im not cut out for this :(

Kayleigh thats pretty identical to what I do!

I'm gonna try & change it so that she drops the 10am bottle and introduce a lunch about 12. But then I don't know when to give her her next bottle?! About 2pm?

Don't you find that they are just eating and sleeping all day though?! Its hard to fit in going out, like today I needed to go asda but it was hard to find a slot in her hectic eating schedule!!

Dont worry Hayley you will soon get the hang of it! I literally didnt have a clue about anything before Finn came along.

Omg Suz I wish I had a baby who slept all day!!! Mine NEVER sleeps :haha: Im guessing if I introduced a lunch, it would be around 12, meaning he would cut out is 1pm feed, and maybe bring the 4pm one forward a bit. So confusing isnt it. Im always worried about how much im meant to give him and what to do if he starts dropping milk!

It is a little confusing I must admit. But your HV will help you and there is a weaning section on here :flower:

danielle... we can learn together!!!

Me too I always think "oh there going to think im an idiot!"
My OH's SIL said she had a book for me "babies for idiot's" but she thought i'd get offended because we don't always get on, well I think I need it lol

:haha: if you dont want the book, i'll have it... i'll just scribble out the "idiots" bit

i guess i will pick it up as i go... soo much conflicting information, too much to cope with now i suppose.

i made a mistake this afternoon. i watched a birth video, and the lady had to have an episiotomy. that is labour fear number 1. i was almost in tears, and all my lady parts suddenly felt very precious... never again

I never knew anything... i planned to breast feed. Still dont know much!! I make most of it up as i go along.

You will find one thing out when you give birth tho. Even if you are the last person on earth that people think would have had a baby (like me ) your mummys instinct will guide you the right way I PROMISE YOU. and dont go running to the doctors after ever sneeze the baby does.

Oh and dont make bottles with warm tap water. always boil the water put in the bottles to cool down. If you are putting the water in them in advance pop them in the fridge (i dont do this anymore but hey ho ) . urmmm make sure you dont lose count of scoops... and get as much help as you can!! dont feel to scared to ask... Just take my advise and you wont end up like me :haha:
