OMG.. I have to tell someone....

Mylo usually only ever has half a bottle at a time. He always has since birth.. hes what the midwife likes to call.. a 'graze feeder'

Well... I went to shop and saw goodnight milk.. cow & gate.. and suggested better sleep blah blah.. cos Mylo doesnt sleep for 3-4 hours at a time. Bed 8pm, wakes for feed at midnight and 4am. so thought I would try it.

Well I read the package.. it suggested using bigger teat.. jumped from normal, number 2 dr browns i use to number 4 (dont have 3's,, thought I did)

Anyways..

He had his bath as usual.. came down changed and bottle as usual.
He polished off the WHOLE 8oz's in 15 mins!!!
I couldnt believe it.. theres a dribble left but still!!!! Then he threw a mouthful up.. his poor tummy not used to getting full that quick.

I am thinking maybe its me causing him to be a graze feeder by not using the correct nipple?
... 'Cos Up til today just been doing number 2's and have been since he was 4 months.

I am wondering if I should have been using number 3 teats in the day and 4 teat for night milk thats thicker? Hope it doesnt give him belley ache either.

Anyways.. he fell asleep so fast it was downstairs and we missed the book read! lol

....but.. we'll see if this has any effect on the waking in the night..
HOPE SO!

Try him on the size 3's in a day, see if it makes any difference. I tried my LO's on size 3's the other day and he couldn't handle them at all, I could have literally ringed his bib out :haha:

Hope it aids a good nights sleep for you

x

It's very possible he left a lot of milk because the teats were too slow. I would maybe try using the fast teats with normal milk and see if that makes a difference, a full bottle should fill him up, it doesn't need to have cereal in it.

If its coming out too slow for him he may just get tired of sucking it and give up half way?

You may just have helped me lol

Earl has been eating half his bottle at a time for a couple of weeks. He's on fast flow teats at the moment (mothercare own) so I don't really know what to do, but thanks for making me think about it.

Glad he's taken it all.

well hes let out a single cry since 8pm (now 11) and that was cos his dummy fell out i think,, that or wind lol
usually it would be awake and grizzly for ten mins around 10.30.

need to get some number 3's fast then, and I may start attacking the number 2's with a needle! ha ha

well last night didnt go too well.. so dunno what to do now.
Maybe his tummy was sore? he had LOADS of wind by 12midnight,, crying and arching back etc.. farting all over the place. Wouldnt settle unless I held him.. so I co-clept from 2am! Bad I know.. going backwards here!

Maybe the goodnight milk just didn't agree with him? Is that the stuff that has cereal in it, or am I getting confuzzled? Could be his system just wasn't used to having that formula, as well as the large amount in one go.

It definitely sounds worth getting some size 3 teats, see how he goes. If he starts taking more from his bottles during the day, you might find that he settles better at night without needing the goodnight milk :)

Good luck :hugs:

Its probably the change in milk, try the fast teats with his normal milk and see how it goes

yes will do when I can get some. I stuck a few pins in the number 2 teat for today.. bloody thing going everywhere.. I was trying not to laugh.. whilst getting drenched. He finished his bottle 5 pm.. (unusual) and then fell asleep straight after bath at 7pm.. didnt want any milk of the freshly prepared goodnight milk bottle. He was fast asleep by 8pm.. havent heard a peep in three hours.. better o up and check hes ok! lol
if tradition persists.. he will be awak by 12 for another feed.. and will hopefully give him some goodnight milk in the number 4 teat.. see how much he takes in a dream feed.. I aint holding out much hope for him sleeping through tho. lol

WELL!!!
He slept til 7.30am!!!! woke very briefly at half 1ish, refused bottle.. and again apparently even more briefly at 4am.. no chance to offer bottle.. OH said one random cry, he popped dummy back in and went back into a deep sleep instantly.

Then next thing I remember is going into him at half 7am!

Result!
in the morning he went back to sleep at half 8 til 10am! (very unheard of)
then drank a whole 8oz bottle again at 10am. Had some puree (summer fruits cereal) at 11am... wolfed that own! (i thought he would refuse after having such a huge amount of milk only an hour before)

Then napped.. at 2pm had another half a bottle and some wotsits..

he ate some puree at 4-5pm (cheesey cauli and broccolli)

sucked on a piece of lamb off my dinner plate.. which he was loving! lol

tonight.. started his routine early. 6pm bath.. half the bottle (goodnight Milk) and bed asleep by 6.30! Hasnt woken so far. and its 10pm. in theory he will wake around 11-12 for feed.. but we'll see. if he does.. its back to the CC! lol

730! fantastic! i hope it wasnt just a one off for you! must be happy being able to fill his belly before bed!
