Well I better introduce myself...

True to my username i'm Katie, I have the most amazing Fiance (James). I'm 20 and hes 23 we've been together for almost 2 years now.
I had a mmc with our first bubs Thomas James in July 2010. I've been abit of a stalker on the Miscarriage Support thread and pop back there on occasions.
But now i'm feeling much strong and more positive....
So good news, James has agreed we can start to be more serious about ttc:happydance:...basically his words were tell me what you want me to do and i'll do it:haha: - in terms of when to dtd ect
When I found myself pregnant with TJ we were NTNP very much if it happens it happens, so i'm completely new to this TTC business :D

I hope you ladies don't mind me jumping in here on this section!

I want to start charting but don't have a clue where to start ...any help would be appreciated...

Also are any of you taking any vitamins or extra supplements to help you to concieve...or atleast assist the little spermies to the rightful locate if so why / what do they do.
I'd scroll the millions of pages on the web but I guess who better to ask than ladies in the midst of ttc and it means I get to know some of you as i'm pretty sure i will be spending many more hours around here throwing posts back and forth! (sorry this post is so long)

Thanks
x:hugs:x Katie x:hugs:x

Hello! :flower:

Sorry to hear about your mmc :nope: but good news that you feel ready to TTC again. I too had a mmc back in May and have just started to feel ready again TTC. This month I think I ov'd really early so messed it up already pmsl, I'm not the best one to advise you!

Good luck charting, I hear that's the best way .

I've just had delivery of my lovely ClearBlue Fertility Monitor - 86% success rate on geting a bfp first time you use it! - (because as my fiance put it) I'm a control freak and want my :bfp: in February!).

I'm just taking folic acid, eating healthily, and using conceive plus lube! (got my bfp first time using this first time round so it's my good luck charm)

xxxx

Hi Katie sorry to hear about your loss, I've had abit of a break over Christmas and have started again now but only taking folic acid at the min until i get pregnant then I have to take aspirin to see if it will help me as I have had 4mc & 1 ectopic. I have had loads of tests done and they can't find anything wrong with me

Good Luck with ttc Xx

Sorry for your losses too ladies, I hate that mc is unfortunately so comman, but not sure about ectopic :(...its really good that we are all ttc again though...Fx'd for you tasha that the aspirin works, is it something to do with thining the blood to prevent clots?

I've heard positive things about the CBFM Babyq (although looks like a rather expensive habit to keep up). Think i may have to invest in one tho due to the high success rate!...I'm going to drive my James mad as i'm abit of a perfectionist and i want everything to be perfect i.e doing everything possible to help get that sticky bean! (at least i will be when i've learnt a few more tricks of the trade :haha:)

At the moment all im doing is eating more healtly, taking a multi vitamin and folic acid each day and of course :sex: every other day...
I'm think i'm on CD 9 but could be CD11 as not quite sure when to count the first day of my af (mayb TMI)...I had CM with a pinky/red coulouring for 2 days starting 28th before af arrived in full force on 30th Dec? Which counts as CD1??

I didn't know there was a specially designed lube :dohh:....Guess it will be available in most pharmacies, i'll have to open my eyes...I'm sure it'll help mr :spermy: on his way to meet eggy! ;)

I was reading up about tracking CM to help pin point around about Ovulation day...any of you tried this...Is it reliable?

I have a good feeling about 2011...We will all get our little miracles :dust:

Thanks xxxx

Hi Katie! :hi:
Welcome to TTCAL. Hope your stay here is a short one!
Sorry to hear about your loss. We are all here if you need any support or advice :friends:
If you are interested in charting, i would recommend the Fertility Friend website. Most people chart their temperature and CM (cervical mucus) on here https://www.fertilityfriend.com/
Theres also CBFM (Clearblue Fertility Monitor) or OPKs (Ovulation Predictor Kits).
Im just using the OPKs this cycle, and it pinpointed my ovulation date perfectly.
As for vitamins, my partner and I take Sanatogen His n Hers Prenatal Multivitamins. They have all the necessary ingredients in one pill each (including the recommended dose of folic acid).
Some ladies are also using special lubes that help the sperm swim to the egg. Conceive Plus, and Preseed are popular brands.
And if you need help with when and how often to have sex, take a look at the SMEP (Sperm Meets Egg Plan)
https://www.pregnancyloss.info/sperm_meets_egg_plan.htm
Good luck on your TTC journey. Any more questions, just shout!
xx

Thanks Shellney, Looks like we posted at the same time....
I seriously didn't realise there was so much out there to help. I'm hoping my stay is a short one although without a doubt I bet its more hard work that it sounds even with all the help available!

Think...atm im leaning towards charting and using OPK's and maybe trying some of the lubes...if that doesnt work then defintely i'll get the CBFM! Only thing with the charting is i'm not a very good sleeper and think maybe that will mess it up..as i read it needs to be after 5 hours sleep....(i never sleep for 5 hours straight at a time)

Thats Sperm meets Egg plan is good...i saved it as a favourite, james already think im abit !

How long have you been ttc, if you don't mind me asking?

What would you suggest with my CD?? Count is is CD9 or CD11?

Thanks xx

From what I have read, you count the first day of actual bleeding as CD1, rather than the spotting. So I would say you are CD9. Although, that is just my humble opinion.
I had an ectopic pregnancy last year, and needed methotrexate to treat it. As its a form of chemo, you have to wait 6 months before TTC again, to ensure its completely out of your system. So this is only my first proper month of trying (last month, we were NTNP).
Im following the SMEP to a tee (its supposed to have a good success rate). But if we dont get pregnant within 3 months, i will buy a CBFM.
And dont worry about James thinking youre mad, Greg is just keeping it out of it all completely. He thinks im a nutter, with all these new phrases im coming out with. He's just happy to be having all the extra sex! :sex:
xx

Hi Katie, I am so sorry for your loss mmc are the worst as you are plodding along thinking everything is fine and then your whole world is turned upside down :hugs:

As a general rule they usually say not to count spotting as CD1, so I would say go for CD9??

We struggled for 6 months before getting our first :bfp: and I am really worried it may take another 6 months to happen again  on the positive side at least I have you ladies to share the ordeal with!

I am taking/doing the following in order to try and speed up that sticky :bfp:
1. Exercise 30 minutes at least 5 times a week
2. Drinking at least 1.5ltr water a day
3. Drinking one glass of pineapple juice and one glass of grapefruit juice a day
4. Taking clomid CD2-6 50mg
5. Taking 1000mg evening primrose oil up until ovulation
6. BBT and CM charting using Fertility Friend
7. Taking prenatal vitamins daily
8. DH on lycopene rich diet

I really hope your stay here is a short one :hugs: xxx

how does the baby asprin help

its surposed 2 thin ur blood, but my blood is fine n bcos they couldnt find anything wrong with me they said its worth a try as it wont hurt me. I dont think it will work tho, if i doesnt they r then going 2 send me 2 a specialis hospital that looks in recurrent mc alot more. X

thanks katie, yeah but theres nothing wrong with my blood so its just something the hospital said wont harm me trying. I have my fx 4 u 2 x x

WOW so I figure I have alot to get in place and missed the first day of the SMEP:(!
I'm working nights now for the rest of this week, well until Wednesday! then James goes onto 7 nights.... so i'm going to dtd as often as i can in the next 2 weeks but treat it like NTNP (so not counting on this being my month)...
BUT next cycle bring on the OPK's temping and CM charting, lube lots of sex and all the other little things!! He thinks im crazy now..hes not seen nothing yet :haha:
We should never let the men of ladies ttc meet!! They'll think we are all just a raving bunch of lunatics!
Do any of you have a TTC journal on here...think as of next cycle when the real ttc begins i'd like to start one to keep everything written down! :)

xx

I think the journal is a nice idea chickadee. DH got me a cute little notebook that I was supposed to start keeping a diary in this year documenting our struggles ttc but I am yet to write an entry yet  There never seem to be enough hours in the day!!

NTNP doesn't count you out darling, in-fact a stress free approach may even earn you that :bfp: I have tried to keep very positive this year as I believe that a good outlook does wonders to your being but I had a wobble yesterday and almost chewed my Mother's head off when she said the patronizing 'It will happen when it happens' spiel when trying to calm me down! The told me stress wouldn't help matters  Glad that I'm back to my old positive self today though!

xxx

FF I can't imagine i would have been pretty mad if my mum tried that one with me!
I live in spain with my DF and my family all live in the UK...when i go back home i spend alot of time with my younger sister shes 4 (16 years age diff) Last time i went back my older sister was speaking to me and decided that when i'm home i don't see her and her 2 young boys enough...I absolutely adore them all but my younger sister and i have such a strong relationship i feel like im missing out if i dont see her every day whilst i'm home!....She turned round and bascially said you don't understand because you dont have kids...i simply reply it's defintely not for lack of trying..her response well when it happens maybe you'll know how it makes my boys feel....i'm sure she didnt mean it nastily but she was a little drunk after we'd been out for a drink with family, I could have strangled her but i think if she knew how much it hurt my feelings she'd take it back within a split second...(we do get along really well)

As for the relaxed approach so far its not been successful since the mmc in july..but then i've been very up and down emotiinally so maybe thats why.

You really should start a journal too or atleast write in your diary..when you have children and they grow older (god forbid they have any problems with ttc) but you could show them the diary of your struggle to concieve them...just a thought as it would bring them so much hope!

A postive attitude is definitely a plus...it can only help ey :D xxx
