Even after 9 and a half months of breastfeeding, it still hurts. Last night I found a chunk of flesh and blood hanging from my nipple, and again after a feed this morning more blood. It's never been this bad, and I think I have thrush again as my left side hurts too. This sucks, I don't want to wean her to formula permanantly. I guess I can be happy with how long i've gone, given that it's always hurt, alot. But it's such a short time for my family, they normally bf for 2 yrs; not that I want to go that long anyways but 12 months would've been nice.
Decisions decisions... Sorry for the sook

I'm sorry :( Have you tried gentian violet for your thrush?

wow! i am struggling with bf ad thrush (not even at 3 weeks yet), and think 9 months is awesome! well done. :)

It sounds like you baby has a terrible latch that has never been corrected! There is no way you should be in pain at 9 months and losing chunks of flesh ??? Wow!! There is some really awesome information about thrush treatments etc here https://www.nbci.ca/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=5&Itemid=17

The All Purpose Nipple Ointment that Doctor jack Newman developed (instructions for your pharmacist are on the website) can be really affective. He also has one with a pain killer in it too which might work really well for you!!!

Could you consider pumping for a couple of months? It seems a shame to introduce formula for a couple of months and go through the agony of weaning from the breast and then have to introduce cow's milk at 12 months?? (((hugs)) to you.

I know you have tried everything possible with nursing your daughter Sarah, your mom is and LC and she has helped you loads as well. I am so terribly sorry you have had such a horrible time. I wouldn't blame you in the least for giving up, you are a hero when it comes to BFing in my book.

Aww Sarah :hugs: Like Samantha said you've done everything you can and obviously have a great supporter in your mum. You should be very proud of what you've achieved and especially so as you have been back a work since way earlier than most mums.

sounds like your really suffering hon, you have done an amazing job getting to where you have well done!

do whatever you feel is best for you and your baby, giving a bottle of formula does not make you a bad mum! :hugs:
