This might sound basic but...

Hi all

I have a question on temps that might sound very basic, but I just want to ask it anyway for a bit of reassurance.

I had my first appt with fertility specialist on Tuesday. To be honest, he was very negative. He doesn't seem to think that I have enough ovarian tissue left to actually be ovulating. He was asking questions like have I "still" got regular AFs and have I been having any signs of the menopause. He has done FSH test to see if I'm ov'ing but that's all for now.

Now, it's true that when I tried OPKs I never had a positive test. But, I Always got a temperature dip and spike. The only one I was unsure about was when I had a fever as I had swine flu.

So basically what I'm asking is does the temperature dip then spike mean I have definitely ovulated? Or is it just an indication that I perhaps might be ovulating sometime soon?

I didn't think to mention this at the appointment. I was pretty upset tbh

Many thanks and much love

I'm pretty sure it does. If you look at my charts (there's only 4 between now and July so not too excruciating - just click on the green FFticker) you can see clearly from them that I have only ovulated once in that time. Its enough for them to be happy youre not though - I didn't even need to SHOW them to my FS - I just told her I was doing it and I clearly wasn't ovulating and she was happy enough with that.

Hi Starbright,

You dont necessarily have to have a dip before a rise to show that you ovulated. If you suddenly have a change in your chart where the temps are all much higher then it is most likely that you ovulated.

When the egg is released your progesterone levels increase which raises your overall body temperature. Your temps stay high until your AF and then the progesterone level drops and your temps drop too.

Feel free to have a look at my charts from the fertility friend link below. There are two on there, though with my current chart I deceided to only start temping from cd13 as I usually ov around cd19.

If you use fertility friend you can post a link to your charts if you want us girlies to take a look for you.

Love fluffy xx
