already said something about it in one thread so i might as well say it here. Last year i was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. If you dont know what that is here is some info on it
https://health.google.com/health/ref/Schizoaffective+disorder

i have fianlly found a medication that works great for me. It has taken me years to get to the point i am now. Ive had problems from the time i was 13 years old and i started hearing voices when i was 17 which my psyciatrist says is early onset.

I know this sounds like an excuse to keep smoking but nicotine paired with my medicine really helps. My therapist told me that 90% of people with mental illnesses smoke. Something about the nicotine calms and soothes me. paired with the medicine i havent had an episode in 6 months which is awesome for me.

I just wanted to share this with someone because i am so proud of myself for this.

You should be proud of yourself. Keep taking your meds. :hugs: My Mom has had schizophrenia for years so I know how difficult a mental illness is. She, too, smokes.

Take good care of yourself. :hugs:

You should be very proud of yourself. Hope things keep going well for you.

You should be proud, take care XXX

Hi hun...i am bipolar 1 with rapid cycling and severe phycotic episodes...i know how you feel darl...i am trying to concieve child number 4 and have come off my meds (olanzapine 20mg) and really struggling at the mo....i have weekly consults with my shrink...and trying to not go either way..i came off meds cos i didn't want to cause any harm to any future baby, apperently notnmuch is known about effect of olanzapine on fetal development and tbh i cannot really find much online and my shrink told me not to take it unless i really need it ..if you want to buddy up hun it would be great... we could support each other through ttc and pregnancy xxx

btw i also smoke but when i get pregnant i will stop...i have a bizarre ability to just quit cold turkey and it not bother me lol...

Careful with stopping smoking if you are on antipsychotics. Smoking induces the enzyme that breaks down antipsychotics (CP450) - means you will probably need a lower dose when u quit or you may go toxic. If u smoke u need a higher dose for it to work.
Glad you are feeling better :)
