Was one a good sleeper and one bad? Both bad? Both good? What order?

My son is/was a terrible sleeper, so I'm just looking for positive stories about subsequent babies being brilliant sleepers ;-)

First was (is) a terrible sleeper, second is fantastic. He used to fall asleep on his play mat if he was tired enough!

Fingers crossed

My first was a crap sleeper until between 1.5-2 and she has slept great since.

Second was okay, once she got to 7 months she statyed sttn and has been fantastic ever since.

Third is definitely my worst sleeper. She is awful!

First was awful
Second was amazing (sttn 12 hours from 3 weeks old)
Third not good
Fourth great
Fifth great

My first slept through at ten months. My second at 2 years. They are all so different! However my second wasa far easier more settled baby. ..and my third. .week I forget he's there apart from the hourly feeds😊

First was pretty terrible. Second showed early promise then deteriorated and is now as bad or worse than the first. I haven't had more than three hours of sleep in a row for over three years. That's more than 1000 nights where a three-hour stretch of sleep is s good as it gets.

The good news, I guess, is that I am still alive and functional. You do harden up over time, and terrible sleep just becomes the new normal.

Both great (touch wood!)

Dd still sleeps 7pm-7am

Ds currently wakes once for a feed at night but goes down between 7-8ish & wakes for the day between 8-9am.

First two were awful - oldest only started sleeping through at 3 years old, ds2 is now 20 months and still wakes twice a night. Ds3 was very good but he's only 4 months old and is now waking up at around 3am again

Wow! How do we do it?? It's amazing what we can handle.

Fingers crossed for a good sleeper, but I know I'll survive if not.

My first was terrific. Second was HORRIFIC. Third is terrific :)

Both excellent night sleepers. DS1 slept 7-7 at 10 weeks. DS2 slept 7-7 at 15 weeks. Both cat napped during day. DS1 stopped cat napping at 8 months when he started to crawl. DS2 is only now started to sleep longer during the day but thats only because i resettle him easier than DS1.

1st was a poor sleeper, 2nd was fine. Partly different natures and partly how I handled them I think - DS had a good routine from day 1 because he had to fit in around DD, he never got used to being lifted / carried so much because I had DD to look after, plus i co-slept for part of the night with him because I had to get up with DD in the morning.

I also think I had just gotten used to less sleep by that stage - it didn't seem near as hard 2nd time round! :flower:

First was quite bad (up hourly till 9 months, then every 2/3 hours until 21 months where he started sleeping through pretty much), second was awful. She's 2 years 4 months and still up many times a night. I'm due my 3rd next week and getting v scared about how awful the lack of sleep might be!

My first sleeps horribly. I mean most days as a baby she slept through but actually getting there was a nightmare. She still has phases where her sleep is awful and it's such a struggle. Second however is an easy sleeper and one that could be put down drowsy and would just sleep. Nothing I've done differently at all...(well except for how I've fed them for the first 4 months of their lives) but they are both very different babies.

Oh and both don't nap much during the day, very short naps. and dd is down to 1 nap per day now at 21 months and some days she goes without.

When I say horribly and nightmare, I say it with the most love that I can lol. They are both amazing babies and I wouldn't have it any other way :)

First was terrible, second was fine. Third is in between but more on the terrible side :). The first two both napped better than #3 and she has some nights of only waking twice but most nights she's up every two hours and I can't feed her to sleep like the other two because she'll throw up if I lay her flat. I was so sure that just #1 would be a bad sleeper! Oh well!

DS1 awful awful sleeper, even naps were a struggle but did get a bit better by 18 months old and now at nearly 3 on the while will sttn

DS2 dream sleeper at night, settled quickly and slept for 5-6 hours stretches, bfeed than back to sleep from about 5 weeks old. Naps a bit tricky to start with then great, however that all went downhill from 10 months old with the start of teething.

Even with DS2 poor night sleep at the moment it is still better than what DS1 was!!
