Thoughts, ideas, attitudes about this name?? Boy or girl???

What do you think of the name Harley? I've heard it a few times on here, & i'm starting to really like it (for a baby boy)! I'm curious tho if it depends on location....... I live in the US....... and the name seems to be more popular for girls here. But in other countries it seems to be more of a boy's name? What do you guys think?

Also, is the link to motorcycles too obvious?? Is that the 1st thing everyone will think of/will they think i'm "into" motorcycles (bc i'm not!).

Does a Harley have to be a cool, tough kid..... or can he also be a sweet, calm boy?

Does a Harley have to be a mechanic... or can he also be an accountant?

Lol... these are all the crazy things i think about when contemplating names!!

Harley Jack is a first/middle name combo that keeps popping back into my head!

Hmmm I have heard it only for girls. I am not sure how common for boys.

I like the name though and a few years ago it was my top girl choice.

Thinking about it - I do like the sound of Harley Jack I do not think it would have only motorcycle connotations.

Thanks Cedar! I really like it too -- but there is this baby name site i go to where people who have the name post "ways people have bullied the name" -- wasn't too bad, as far as bullying goes.... just people would often say "Oh, is your last name Davidson?" And think they were funny....... Which would probably get annoying!

Are you in the US?

I like Riley Jack too -- but again -- Riley is being used more often for baby girls it seems!

I think it's cute, though the tie to the motorcycle could get tiring after a while. I see it as more of a girly name as well, but that's because I've only known one little girl with the name.

Hey Ruby - yes have seen that site - maybe it was you who posted it on the thread for Fleur? I checked it out then.
I think as the name is used more now, there will be less and less of a thought Re motorcycles.

I LOVE the name Harley and posted a poll on here for baby boy names a couple of months back...Harley was one of the options and came out top out of 5. I am considering Harley Benjamin for my little boy but I have had mixed reactions...especially the motorbike thing

I've got a friend who has a 4 year old boy called Harley. He was actually named for the motorbike connection as my friend grew up in a family of bikers and his name has bike connections too.

I love the name Harley for a little boy!! I would consider it myself but my friends little boy is named Harley so I can't use it. I've never known a girl to be called Harley before, defiantly think of it as a boys name xx

I love the name Harley and have always considered it a boys name. My cousin however has a daughter who is 2 now and she is called Harley, a lot of people do comment that it's 'interesting' for a girl.
I love it for a boy and Harley Jack sounds lovely

I have a co-worker who grew up in a "family of bikers" too... so she named her son Ryder..... Just thought i would pass that along in case your friend is ever looking for a name idea for biker baby #2!

Welllll.....I'm in the US too, and I would definitely assume you and OH were bikers, sorry. And I would never name a girl that, for sure.
