I saw the doctor this morning after experiencing light bleeding and he says I am having a threatened miscarriage. They will be monitoring my HCG every 48 hours and I am going for an ultrasound on Monday.

Have any of you gone through this and gone on to have successful pregnancies? I could really use some good news. I'm very upset right now.

Update - baby had no heartbeat. I was almost 12 weeks and had seen a healthy heartbeat on my 8 week ultrasound. I guess nobody is really safe despite what statistics say.
Currently waiting at the ER to see a specialist about a D&C.

Long story short, yes. I experienced the works - bleeding, cramps, clots, at 5 and then 6 weeks. Hcg was measured every 3 days, and at 12 weeks my scan showed a healthy little bean. My daughter was born at 39 weeks, kicking and screaming and perfectly healthy.

Threatened miscarriages are so unbelievably scary but they don't always end badly. Big hugs, hope you get your good news soon :)

Dotty xx

Thank you so much, I needed to hear that.
Luckily my NT ultrasound was already booked for June 2, so I only need to get through the next few days to have an answer.

Yes, I had a threatened misscarriage with DS. It was so scary but al lturned out well, I hope it is the same for you :hugs:

They class any bleeding as a threatened miscarriage, they said my son and this pregnancy were threatened miscarriages because I had spotting, but my son was born very healthy and a 13 week scan showed this baby healthy, I know it's very scary hearing those words, but it can and does end well :flower:

Yes--I bled/spotted for the first 10 weeks with my son. He's 2. It's hard when you bleed---very stressful:( Hope everything is ok.

They call all bleeding "threatened miscarriage" in early pg. I had cramps, bleeding, and clotting when I was 12 wks along. Went to hosp and the baby was fine, the placenta was covering my cervix and causing irritation. But the hosp gave me a print out that said threatened miscarriage. I was put on pelvic rest until my uterus got big enough for the placenta to move up and off my cervix. Basically it was a very early previa. That baby is my son who is 2 years old.

I think the diagnosis should be reworded. "Threatened" and "miscarriage" would freak anyone out!
I was diagnosed with it at 7 weeks when I had spotting. A blood vessel had burst above the placenta. I lay in bed for a couple of days to let it heal.
I'm nearly 13 weeks now. Had the NT scan 5 days ago and the baby is doing very well.
Don't stress yourself, although its easier said than done. If you don't have cramping, bright red blood, clots, you are most likely okay.

There's red blood along with the brown now and some cramping. I'm really scared. I can't stop crying for more than a few hours at a time. I hoped that being so close to 12 weeks and having seen the heartbeat on an ultrasound at 8 weeks that I was past the miscarriage risk. It seems I might not be.

I have no words of wisdom to offer but I am thinking of you and hoping everything turns out alright. :hugs:

hi hun

They said this pregnancy was a threatened miscarriage for no reason. Maybe because I had had a previous miscarriage before my son? No idea.

My son was also a threatened miscarriage. I bled several times throughout first tri. But that threatened miscarriage is taking a nap right now so it definitely doesn't always mean its bad. Spotting isn't normal per se, but its common.

My mum bled at 8 weeks and was told she was having a threatened miscarriage and there was nothing they could do.
Here I am almost 22 years later with my own baby on the way :D
Stay positive hun:hugs: x

Oh wow, what an awful thing to hear :sad1: That's so terrifying, especially being 11+weeks!

My heart goes out to you and I am wishing for the best - all these ladies have given such positive stories, I'm sure you will have one too xoxo try to rest over the next few days.

I suffered some light red bleeding in my last pregnancy at about seven weeks - baby was perfectly healthy (I was a nervous wreck). Hopefully things will be fine, but good that the doctor is taking precautions and they are monitoring you. Unfortunately pregnancies are just not as predictable as we'd like them to be.

I am in the ER now after a big gush of red blood. I hope to have some answers soon.

Aw hon, really hope all is ok. I'm a few days behind you and don't know how I would cope with that at all. Let us know how things are xx

Update to the original post- an ultrasound showed baby has no heartbeat.

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry. What happened? Was the baby measuring small or anything? Ugh you are definitely in my thoughts and prayers. :hugs:

Oh my god :sad1: what a tragedy :( I am so so sorry to hear Dark Star.
