Thrush. Tmi!

Sorry But yeah.. I have thrush and, because I'm pregnant, the doctor has given me just the canesten cream. I was reading up though and it says this will only help externally with itching etc but needs to be taken with the pill (which I know I can't) or the pessaries to clear it up internally... what?

Also, what about my husband? Will he need to go and get something from the doc in case I passed it to him?

I was pretty much rushed out the door and didn't get the chance to ask anything

Hi! I can totally sympathise, I get thrush quite often!

If you go to the pharmacy they should be able to give you cream which is put inside an applicator (like a tampon) and you lie down, put it in and lie for a while after. I've used that a few times with the cream for the outside bits. Your pharmacist should be able to tell you if thats suitable for use in pregnancy or not.

Thrush can be transmitted sexually but it's quite uncommon. Your OH will only need treatment if he's got symptoms.

Hope the torture is over for you soon, it's such a horrible thing!!

He doesn't have any symptoms, thankfully

I went to the pharmacist this morning and she told me to persevere with just the cream, see how it is in a couple of weeks and take it from there

Argh, thats not very helpful! The pharmacist was obviously not a woman who had experienced thrush before!

Sometimes the cream does the trick - it has worked alone for me before. Really hope it's better for you soon x

Thanks Loobs, I've been waiting to use it when it gets unbearable - haven't had to use it today! Going to start 3 times a day as recommended though.

Here I am, nearly 3 weeks after getting the cream, and still really suffering. Ugh. I need to go back to the doctor and beg for the pessary or something... It's just facing the 30-60 minute wait after my appointment time to actually be seen
