Tips on how to get rid of flies?

Seriously I cannot cope anymore!

My whole downstairs is full of them!

Any ideas on what I can do to get rid and keep out? I can't close my windows, its too hot! x

I'm not sure if it works for the normal flies but I used white vinegar in a jar for fruit flies - they flew into it and drowned themselves. Or perhaps invest in some net stuff which you can put outside of your window so you can open them but the flies can't get in.
