2have4kids: They mentioned clomid at our last appt but said that although it would help ovulation they would not want to give it as it can effect cervical fluid and he didn't want to mess somewhere he didn't see a problem . Also just looked into iui and it's not offered anymore in the UK unless you have a disability / infection that means you would require assistance conceiving or are in a same sex relationship. Not given for unexplained fertility any more

MissMiki- I don't understand the NHS as I'm in the US, but does that mean doctors won't perform it or that it won't be covered and you'd have to pay for it yourselves?

the standard TTC is far too positive for me. i am at the 3 year point so avoid that but in particular the 2ww section too!!

here is a link i was reading through recently with regard to B12….seems it can help with sperm count although you will probably know that already.

Oh that's really sad. IUI is such an easy inexpensive intermediate step to IVF that you'd think it's a natural progression.
I agree, chlomid can effect things, it made me all clotty with AF, if that's how my lining was like I don't know how it could have implanted if it was making that negative an impact.
I think you guys are lucky to have the option of private and the NHS public system. Best of both worlds. Here in Canada we're 50 years behind anywhere else in the world.

Sorry to hear your frustrations... I find myself feeling the same way depending where at I am in my cycle. We've been TTC for about 4 years now. I kind of know when to stay away from the "newbie" boards at this point, heh!

The biggest stressor for me now is people around me saying how I need to relax and that we're just "not doing it enough". Really? Do you think that's really the case when we're months away from contemplating spending thousands of dollars on IVF? That we're not doing it enough? Ugh.

Ugh, I know exactly what you mean. After TTC for 24 months, all of my original TTC buddies fell pregnant within the first year and then disappeared. It's frustrating having woman complain about the wait after only TTC for 3 months.. That's shorter than most of my cycles.

One of OH's friends fell pregnant just 6 weeks ago, and I was happy for her but livid at the same time. She kept going on about how long it took, and how she thought it would never happen. I assumed she had been TTC longer than me by the way she talked but nope, only 10 months.

I too don't know where I belong on this forum. TTC forums are too full of new comers who know nothing about the process, and LTTTC are full of women who's struggle has been much more severe than mine.

Anyway, that was my rant. I really hope you get your sticky bean soon, and can finally transcend to the pregnancy threads. <3

Dottie, it depends what you can put up with. The ttc forum is just so silly sometimes, you'd probably find more resources and meaningful conversation here in ltttc. And no one is going to snub any of you even if it's only been a short while that you've been ttc. And if they do, well, there are lovely moderators to keep that kind of mean girl attitude in check.

Hello ladies just wanted to say :hi: as I just hit my 2 yr mark a few weeks ago!!!

It's been a long Journey that I hope comes to an End this Yr!!

I can't even bring myself to look in the normal TTC section on boards anymore, I'm sick to death of people whining how it's been 3 months and they're still not pregnant ](*,) oh if only I could turn the clock back and be at that point again.

And if one more person tells me I just need to relax and forget about it then it will happen, I may just lose my rag :growlmad:

We've been TTC for 2.5 years, just wanted to say hi. I was on the assisted conception thread while doing our first ivf but unfortunately it failed so feeling a bit lost now. Looking at the other threads think i definitely belong here.

'Relax & it will happen', i hate that saying. Sorry love but relaxation is not a cure for infertility! I also have a pregnant friend who is suffering from back ache, sickness and lack of sleep and comes to me for comfort, seriously??? Id be sick for 9 months if i could get pregnant! So that's my rant over lol.

I like this thread - wishing you all a very fertile month x

Welcome, pinkie. I completely agree that relaxation is not a cure for infertility. I wish people understood that. The harder we try to relax, the more stressed out we become when it doesn't happen. Ugh.

Lowering my stress did help my cycles re-regulate...but that was in February of last year...still not pregnant. Now I'm able to PREDICT when I'm not pregnant though. Oy.

In January 2014 we will have been trying 3 years.

We have been for fertility investigations and all has come back fine.

Our investigations were a year ago and we were told that as nothing was found we should wait another year and keep trying. So I am on no meds with no explanations.

Miki we have almost identical paths! Will be 3 years in Jan, same history, same "unexplained infertility". So, hello from a ltttc friend from across the pond! Best of luck to you in your journey!!! :happydance:

Aururasaurus, have you tried the reproductive immunology side of investigations? There's a whole 'nother side that endocrinologists seem to ignore (at least mine did!) I'm now doing donor eggs and because I have arthritis in my family, the clinic is treating me for autoimmune problems so there are no implantation or m/c issues. My transfer is December 9th and I'll be taking prednisone 2 weeks up to transfer date and then for the first tri thereafter. It prevents your body from rejecting the fetus if you have Natural Killer Cells or some immune issues going on. The link below tells about all of the tests they can do for 'unexplained infertility', typically stuff that fertility clinics tend to ignore:dohh:

These are the things my fs didn't check for that I regret:
https://www.repro-med.net/repro-med-site2/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=34&Itemid=11
A. Antiphospholipid Antibodies (APA). These are the glue molecules for implantation and placentation.

B. Antinuclear Antibodies (ANA). Some women develop antibodies to the baby's DNA or DNA breakdown products and this problem is reflected by a positive Anti-nuclear antibody test (ANA). This is often with a speckled pattern. We also advise that women have testing to double-stranded DNA, single-stranded DNA, polynucleotides and histones.

C. Elevated CD 56+ Natural Killer Cells. This test determines the killing power of a woman's Natural Killer Cells in the test tube. Elevated NK numbers and/or NK activity can be associated with increased risk for infertility and loss. The testing that typically defines this issue are:

1. Immunophenotype
2. NK Assay

D. Th1/Th2 Cytokines
The immune system is balanced between a TH1 (autoimmune) and TH2 (pregnancy or suppressive response). TH1 predominance can also be associated with reproductive failure. The Th1 Th2 Assay can help us determine a patient's risk for this problem.

E. T regulatory cells (Treg)
Higher numbers of Tregs in the blood have been associated with better pregnancy outcome. We at the center are now studying Tregs both in endometrial biopsies and in the blood of patients before and following therapy. See: T regulatory cells.

F. Thrombophilias
Thrombophilia is increased tendency to clot.Throughout an entire normal pregnancy, the mother's ability to produce blood clots in the uterus and the placenta is suppressed. However, in some mothers, this clotting tendency is not suppressed sufficiently. This can contribute to many pregnancy complications and we test for many of these thrombophilia conditions. See our article: Thrombophilia: Inherited and Acquired.

G. Elevated CD57 cells in the endometrium
High levels of CD57+ cells may be associated with increased risk of infertility and loss. See: Immune pathology of endometrium.

Hi there, I just wanted to say I know exactly how you feel. I've not posted on here for awhile because I was getting really down. We've been trying for a baby for nearly 5 years. I hope you get your BFP soon x

I hate just relax and it will happen. I really don't think at this point it is about relaxing. I also hate hearing stories about how if you stop trying and forget about it then it will happen, no matter how hard I try to stop I can't. It is always on my mind.
I'm sorry to hear about all of your struggles, it is so hard. I wish you all the best of luck too, and I hope we all get our BFPs soon. :hugs:

Melts do you have a fertility specialist in your town? I hear clomid can also be used to help men's counts so maybe that's an option? Either prescribed by an fs, or maybe even through gp.

If you're still looking for options, after two years of trying I made my husband get a SA, and he had a sperm count of zero. Nothing. It was such a punch in the gut. In his case it was side effects from meds he's on, because he has cancer. A very manageable form of leukemia, but still, lots of meds. He was put on self-administered shots of HCG, three times a week for 3 months. He never went back to get tested again, because he's lazy, but it got back close enough to normal to get me pregnant twice. (One ended in miscarriage in June). It may be worth looking into! It was expensive though.. like $300 a month, so $900 total for the 3 months. Your insurance may be better then ours, though.
