Hi

My 3 year old was at nursery all day yesterday. Turned up to collect at 430 from his wraparound care to find him asleep on the sofa. He was roasting hot and pale. The lovely lady who runs wraparound said he was tired and not interested in playing when she collected him an hour before. Apparently wasnt interested in his lunch earlier either. God knows why they didn't call me, suppose that a separate issue.

Picked him up for a cuddle and he cried immediately very upset then promptly was sick 2 or 3 times all over me and him. Took him straight home and got us changed and cozy on couch. All he wanted was water no food so he had about a cup. Fell asleep early and had a restless night.
Seems fine this morning, no more sick at all. Drinking eating and playing this morning. Had a wet nappy overnight.

Anyway, whole point of this post-
He went for his first pee this morning on his potty (no complaints of pain). Finished, and came to sit back next to me. Lazy mummy only went to empty potty an hour later and found the attached pic. It's orange and thick cloudy looking. Exactly like orange juice. Poured it down toilet and rinsed potty with water but it still left an orange rim round potty. So weird. He did a couple of farts when peeing so I suppose there could be a bit of runny poo in there causing the funny colour? Sorry for TMI.

Anyone seen urine this colour? I assume he is just a little dehydrated from day before and I should make sure he drinks plenty and monitor him
Ideas?
Thanks

It's possible he's dehyrdated. It's also possible it's a UTI. Urine can go orange/pink with a UTI if you pass blood (also I think they tend not to drink much to avoid having to go if it hurts, which can add to it with dehydration). I'd keep him well hydrated today and see what happens. If he still seems unwell (fever or just really not himself) or seems in any discomfort when he uses the toilet, it would be worth maybe seeing the doctor in case it is a UTI.

Cloudy urine is usually a symptom associated with UTI or other inflammatory process. Darker color like orange/pink can be due to blood in the urine, or from dehydration. I would keep an eye on it to see if it persists. If it does, call your pediatrician, and they may want you to collect a sample to get tested for UTI vs dehydration.

Thanks guys. Seemed fine for rest of today and a few normal looking pees. Will check tomorrow mornings one and see where we are.
