I understand your concern! We're a gamer family too, videogames and d&d, check

without being a tomboy i never had interest in 'girl' things and most of my friends were guys. Gender stereotypes really bother me so I try hard to keep our house neutral.
I have the opposite advice, don't find out the gender beforehand, keep it a surprise! I found out the gender for my son and was soooo disappointed. Wanted a kickarse daughter, didnt know how id relate to a boy and dh has 4 brothers. Of course as soon as I met the little wee boy he was I felt in love. So avoid the months of possible disappointment!
For our second I was so glad we didn't find out the gender. We were 100% convinced it was a boy though from looking at scans, and I had tons of em. Well it was a girl!my first thought was oh my god I have to learn how to do hair and all that stuff! *face palm*
Luckily I have everything from our son, gender neutral. Our families think we're nuts (OK some of that might be the gaming

) but I really don't want her awash in pink and princesses. I returned most of our gifted clothes, i had politrly asked for no pink but its just ridiculous the amount of noxious pink in babyland and I think most people can't help themselves =p
I watch the amount of gender stereotyping that goes on at my sons daycare and it makes me sad. Lots of recent immigrant, traditional conservative families. But hey things are changing for the better, slowly.
Jet hope I don't embarrass my kids *too* much by being the weird mom with the black clothes and purple hair
