I have a question about the tommee tippe black insulated bottle warmers. Firstly this isn't meant as a debate to if you pre make the bottles or make up feeds freshly- I always have made up a fresh feed as they tell you and always will, for home we have a perfect prep maker machine do feeds are made up on demand freshly. Going out I buy cartons at take boiling water to heat to temp that lo likes it.. This is going to cost me a fortune in cartons as I go out a lot. A friend of mine has a tommee tippee black insulated bottle warmer which she has hot water in the bittle ready and the powder in a little pot.

If you do this how do you get the temp of the water right as she doesn't carry cold water to cool it?

On the website it says

The Department of Health recommends that your baby's feeds are made individually as and when required, so you can simply pop a bottle of water in your Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Insulated Bottle Carrier, and add the formula powder separately at feed time – the Tommee Tippee Milk Powder Dispenser is ideal for this.

Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Insulated Bottle Carriers have excellent thermal properties, so they'll keep your baby's bottle cool or warm as required. They're designed to hold Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature bottles, although you can also use them for food jars as your little one grows – perfect for feeding on the go.

What do you think ? Is it ok make up bottles this way , how long does it stay at the right temp for ?

I have the tomme tippee bags n they are rubbish, they do not keep them warm st all! I have started takin the flask of hot water out n about, much easier

I don't think the insulated bottle holders are very good, unless you can fit an ice pack in too and keep it cold until needed.

I make up my bottles out and about in the same way that the perfect prep machine does. It works well although it means carrying two bottles and a flask.

My lo has 8oz feeds. I take one empty sterilised bottle, one bottle of cooled boiled water and a thermos flask of boiling water.

I add 2oz boiled water to the empty bottle, add my 8 scoops of formula and shake so that all the bacteria is killed. I then add my 5oz cooled boiled water, shake again, and my bottle is then at the perfect temperature to drink. Xxx

If you are in a cafe or coffee shop they will give you cold water to cool it down.

I used to carry a flask with me for mixing the powder then either add cold water I had in another bottle or would ask for cold water.

They do keep bottles warmer for longer, but not much longer. Thermal flasks are more ideal x

I have 1 which I don't use - my son was always too impatient to wait for it to heat. I prefer to take a small flask of boiling water and a 2nd bottle with old water in - when I need a bottle I do it the same way the perfect prep machine does, so about 2oz of boiling water, add powder to dissolve, then top up with cold water. Works well. :flower:

I do it the same way

If I'm out I feed my dd in a cafe so it's no trouble to get cold water to cool her bottle down. The tommee tippee flask is really useful, especially having a jug to hand as well. I've also made a bottle up in advance so it can cool down itself before dds feed, it takes about 45 mins to cool down to the right temperature and that's well within the 2 hour window x

I'd definitely do with the tommee tippee flask rather than the insulated bottle holders. The flask keeps the water much hotter. I only used the insulated bottle holders if I've made up a bottle and just wanted to keep the milk warm for a little while, I.e. To have a bottle ready to hand after I put LO in the bath.

I'd just add, we've used 2 of the Tommee tippee flasks, and both leaked soaking everything near it!, even if we kept them upright they still managed to leak. My friend had the same problem.

I've got a flask which I use but never thought to do it like the prep maker that's a good idea - saves me lugging round an ice pack to keep the second bottle cold until needed

Same here we take out two flasks, one with boiling water and the other with cooled water from the prep machine hah!

I've got two tommee tippee flasks and have never had issues with leaking, although I've had to make sure the 'button' is not popped. People who have these flasks will understand what i mean :)
